The IPL auctions for players will be held in Bengaluru over the weekend, on 12th and 13th Feb 2022.
The big players will be auctions on day 1 while the second day will consist of newer talents and a the unsold players from day 1.
The auction will be telecasted on Star Sports and Disney+Hotstar, and will start around 10 am IST. What makes this years IPL exciting is that there are 2 more teams added to the league. This includes teams from Ahmedabad and Lucknow. The Ahmedabad team will be led by Hardik Pandya and will be called the Ahmedabad Titans. Lucknow has picked up KL Rahul to lead them- their team name is Lucknow Super Giants.
In the pre-auction stages, all teams had retained and released the players as per their liking and strategies. There will be no RTM (Right to Match) card this time, this means that teams will not be able to match the bid of the highest bidder for a player who has been released by the team but not retained.
The total amount for a team for the auction is Rs 90 crore. The amount for the retained players is deducted from this amount.
A team can have a minimum of 18 players and a maximum of 25 players post the auction. The maximum foreign players a team can have is 8.
A total of 590 cricketers will be available for the actions - 370 are Indian players and 220 are overseas players.

Royal Challengers Bangalore: Virat Kohli (Rs 15 crores) Glenn Maxwell (Rs 11 crores) and Mohammad Siraj (Rs 7 crores)
Mumbai Indians: Rohit Sharma (16 crores), Jasprit Bumrah (12 crores), Suryakumar Yadav (8 crores), Kieron Pollard (6 crores)
Punjab Kings: Mayank Agarwal (Rs 14 crore), Arshdeep Singh (uncapped) (Rs 4 crore)
Sunrisers Hyderabad: Kane Williamson (Rs 14 crore), Umran Malik (uncapped, Rs 4 crore), Abdul Samad (Uncapped, Rs 4 crores)
Chennai Super Kings: Ravindra Jadeja (Rs 16 crore), MS Dhoni (Rs 12 crore), Moeen Ali (Rs 8 crore), Ruturaj Gaikwad (Rs 6 crores)
Delhi Capitals: Rishabh Pant (Rs 16 crore), Axar Patel (Rs 9 crore), Prithvi Shaw(Rs 7.5 crore) and Anrich Nortje (Rs 6.5 crore)
Rajasthan Royals: Sanju Samson (Rs 14 crore), Jos Buttler (Rs 10 crore) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (Uncapped, Rs 4 crore).
Kolkata Knight Riders: Sunil Narine (Rs 12 crore), Andre Russell (Rs 8 crore), Varun Chakravarthy (Rs 8 crore) and Venkatesh Iyer (Rs 6 crore).
The two new teams Ahmedabad were allowed to buy three players each ahead of the mega auction.
Ahmedabad Titans bought Hardik Pandya (15 crore), Rashid Khan (15 crore) and Shubman Gill (8 crore)
Luckow Super Giants: bought KL Rahul (17 crore), Marcus Stoinis (9.2 crore) and Ravi Bishnoi (4 crore)
Uncapped players have a limit of 4 crores.
Post the retaining of the players - the purse of the teams is as follows (this is the maximum they will be allowed to spend)
