Dear all dimers,

Today I had unprecedented number of notifications from this app and also a relevant day when I had to face the music of the management of this app/IR

Some important points here so that you can read and keep it in mind!!!

1. Filing of TDR. Last time I filed a TDR. The train didn’t arrive at the ETA at the originating station and there was no whereabouts and train was affected in the Feb gurjar agitation and no one knows about the particular train’s journey. I had filed TDR after the ticket came in TDR eligibility, but after few days when I checked, it was rejected saying the train was in time at originating station. Lucky, I kept all the screenshots of my search, call details to the 138 and search for the particular train in NTES and a tweet to DRM. They reopened with my rigorous follow up, else they should have washed off this TDR. So keep all the important communications including call and search details and see that the TDR if it is rejected in the first place, ask for its reopening by sending mails with your proof to [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected] And see that it is followed it up for your money being credited back to the means of payment channel.

2. Ensure your Shubh Yatra points are redeemed well in time else during the last legs they will play with you by not sending the OTP. I had seen my 2000 odd points are expiring and the last day when I was trying to redeem, they say the redemption OTP is sent in mobile and email, received none. After a long email follow up and reaching to the chairman’s office, I proved that they didn’t send me the OTP and hence I lost the points and they were maintaining that the elapsed points can’t be credited back. But my proofs were so accurate, that they can’t reject my claim.

You all may share your part of experience so that we can keep in mind….

What proofs did you keep about shubhyatra points.
I can’t imagine how could you prove that they didn’t send OTP.

The points statement and my txn failure history. 2000 points were to be expired on May 31st, attempted booking and never received an OTP, and IRCTC said that they are sending me otp in registered mobile and email, not received in either mode, registered complaint and after a month got restored my expired points due to non receipt of OTP

I got it. You have to prove that you wanted to use it, but in my case, not received OTP due to their glitch, registered complaint and asked them for vetting of their records and verify my claim.

I enumerated my experience with the intention of taking care of such instance. 1 Usually we file TDR and we think, it is getting credited, nobody usually check if it is rejected and has attempted reopening of the claim. I highlighted so that in case if anyone is facing similar situation, they can attempt reopening. 2 SBI card points usage. My event is to highlight the necessity of utilizing points well before the points expiry and not till last day. Had I attempted to utilize my points redemption, may be a week before, the OTP issue could have been sorted out.

Hi anyone have idea if I can file TDR or claim refund for confirmed tatkal ticket with wrong name ( my bro name instead of mine because of tatkal urgency) or can I still travel..train is tonight
Losing more money just in cancelling tickets or just tatkal tickets

You can approach Reservation counter of nearby centre and write a request and attach blood relationship proof, they can do it. Being a Sun, counters may be operating till 2 pm. Below are the rules for a e ticket, which may be applied to Tatkal as well. Change of boarding station & change in name of E-Ticket passenger :-
For getting these facilities, customer can now approach the nearest Railway Reservation Office with ‘Electronic Reservation Slip’ print out and photo identity proof in original of one of the passenger traveling in the ticket at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure of train as per extant Railway rules.
Please note that reservation offices can change ‘Boarding Station’ & ‘Passenger Name’ against a request from the passenger as per extant railway rules applicable to other face to face counter booked tickets .
Facility in the name change of passenger holding confirmed e-reservation has been permitted as per extant Railway rules noted as under:-

    a. Where the passenger makes a request in writing 24 hours before the scheduled departure of train to the nearest Railway Reservation office. It can be transferred to an-other member of his family, meaning, Father, Mother, Brother, Sister, Son, Daughter, Husband and Wife. He should bring the ‘Electronic Reservation Slip’ print out along with photo identity card proof in original & a proof for blood relation desired to be changed . 

    b. Where the passenger is a Government Servant proceeding on duty and appropriate authority, makes a request in writing 24 hours before the scheduled departure of train.
