Is Jio Prime (Rs 99) recharge mandatory on Ported Number?

I just got my number ported from Voda to Jio.
Does anyone know if it’s mandatory to recharge with Rs 99 for Prime Membership ?
I plan to do Rs 459 recharge but not sure about this 99…

My region there is no 3G for voda, but we have Jio 4G. So I had to port. Worst part was I had around 400/- balance still remaining. Could not find a way to utilise it, so tranferred it to another number. 
Yes u need to get prime.
I got sim when Jio was given out free. I used that time and kept it for long time. Today I took our and did a recharge of ₹399 directly from Amazon . It worked without any issue. Also it shows prime membership in my Jio app 
Don’t they deactivate in 3 months any more? Strange
@Rahil42 thanks it worked now was able to accumulate balance of 500 through various offers and recharge thru balance yay 
i have a follow up question for u and @goldigger if i do another 399 rc through phonepe right now another 84 day plan will get queued right so in total it will be 84+84 and i’m set for the next 6 months
Based on feedback from others, the second recharge will get you only 28 days. Never tried personally. Couldn’t risk 399
Thanks Buddy, This was really helpful. I also recharged with Rs.100 but unable to call even though recharge was successful & MyJio app was showing that balance.
I opened Jio.com on PC & used that balance to activate plan. Now all good with my number.

I just port my no. From airtel to jio so what about the 1st recharge it is nacessory to do jio center.
