Their banner on MyJio app says, “due to undergoing policy changes..”, where has the policy changed? IUC cost existed even when they started their services.
can’t this be deemed as cheating? they are misleading the customers by trying to state there is a change where as they are just trying to curtail their costs forgetting their increasing/increased customer base which is the reason for the increase?

Right. They are creating an impression that other operators are looting them. It’s a tactic to convert non Jio customers to Jio.
I wish we also had a Telecom Regulatory Authority in India like other countries…
When jio entered the market IUC was 14paisa and now it is only 6 paisa but they want this from us.
Also IUC is operator-operator thing customer have no part in it.
Also other operators are offering same plans as jio and don’t charging any iuc charges to customers
And also jio told they will offer calls free and they will offer plans 20% cheaper than other operators so Jio is cheating customers in this regard
I have airtel connection and airtel charges more for same plan. It charges me 129 Rs to get 28 days calls and 2 GB data which is available for 98 Rs with jio. Now tell me who is looting.
But isn’t other operator paying IUC for their outgoing call to non-home operators?is it paid by operator still As jio was paying earlier? Then why only jio started iuc charges now? Other operator also hv unlimited voice call plans nw similar to jio..
Because the TRAI hearing is in 3 months and Jio wants to use this time to create a momentum in its favor. They are misleading people that there has been some policy changes and TRAI is forcing Jio to pay 6 paise more. But the fact is TRAI is not charing anything extra from Jio.
IUC charges are same for all operators. Jio is paying other operator 6 paise per minute, Airtel is paying other operator 6 paise per minute, Vodafone is paying other operator 6 paise per minute.
If you really want to understand the whole case then you will need to understand the need of IUC charges. What exactly are those and why are they necessary.
Actual fact of the matter is, Jio announced free calls on the impression that interconnect usage charges would be zero very soon after they started. They have paid 13,000 crore till now to other operators as IUC charges.
TRAI promised that IUC would be reduced to zero and it should have been done atleast 2 years ago. Now TRAI is floating papers to extend IUC charges and let AVOID leech for even more years instead of investing in new technology. Why would you upgrade when you can just make money from 20 year old infrastructure freely? Look at Airtel, its only upgrading in its most profitable sectors and that too only on a few towers. If I was a businessman who owned 20 year old infrastructure and had milked it to the maximum and still earning from it, I certainly wouldn’t want IUC to become zero, especially when half my customers are miss call girakis. (Another matter is the compulsory recharges to even get incoming messages on AVOID).
TRAI chopped BSNL’s legs by making landline IUC zero years ago, but they still are in the pockets of AVOID and not making it completely zero for all mobile operators as well.
But people say govt is in the Pockets of Ambani. 🙄

There reasons are same as airtel n hutch when they use to charge cust hefty for data i.e. backend costs have increased. Though they are in powers to increase call rate.
Its not that jio is misleading its that ambani is not the man of his words though he is a vegetarian liar.

lol, if Amazon , flipkart is giving some offers some govt. department called it predatory pricing and asking them to regulate (read in this forum only about this)
