As usual, Hindi will be released later.
Probably a month.
Are they still playing that song "varaha roopam" as court ordered to stop using it due to the copyright infringement.
I prefer watching all South Indian movies with subtitles because as you said essence, emotions and feel of the scenes is always lost in other language dubbing.
In 2005, I saw Korean movie My Sassy Girl without any subtitles aid as I downloaded it from torrents by mistake. It was such an intense romantic drama that I really got teary eyes in the end after watching that movie without knowing any word they said. Even music of I beleive song in background was so ultimate that I kept whistling it for days. I know love stories have no logic, but after watching some powerful movies, one can feel good about their ownselves 😍
Hope Kantara is also like that.
It's the word of mouth that's brought it to this place.
Why the Hero or Hero father disappear in the starting of the move and ending of the movie. Are they dead? What's the point in that?
If you think Kantara is just about supernatural powers and it's repercussions, I'm sorry to say.. you have missed a lot more that it did offer to make you feel about. Had it be like that.. there would not be any sufferings on the people's side.. the cop would have not understood where he went wrong.. the main protagonist through which the deity appears in the end would have never happened as he was the one after killing the same God the whole time. So many thing to watch and feel about the tribal life and their beliefs. Obviously, it's not everyone's piece of cake. Oh yes, a wide range of people from all over the art and cinema fraternity could able to recognise the gem inside SDM and hyped it unnecessarily, as it's no big deal for anyone living that life daily and couldn't differentiate the cinematic aspect of any fine cinema. Believe me, almost all Academy flicks are hell bore to the core for entertaining masses, yet they have their own charisma and place amongst all. And yes, not a single one I've watched did fail to amaze me!
Being said that, in art.. there can be hundreds of views/ perspectives on any subject and it surely doesn't have to coincide with others sitting just beside us watching the same piece. It all depends on the way you perceive it. You are absolutely right defining it in your ways just like the rest gave their 'insights and feel' about this piece (though they have tried to make it less art and more entertainment). Nothing can be denied!!
@Dileep_kumar Even many North/ East Indian movies are not everyone's favourite. Being from a region has got no meaning on how you perceive something made with heavy detailing and still feel disconnected to that. To each his own!
Watched half the movie. Didn't find any reason on why it got 9+ on IMDb😅.
I must say that the newer version of varaha roopam ( earlier one was bang on but plagiarized ) is not creating the same effect.. 😢
Even I am not very impressed. No doubt, last 9.5 minutes of the movie was exceptionally brilliant. Beginning was also sketched beautifully but middle part was dull.
Ab dekh li ek baar, ab uska kya port-mortem karna. Dobara dekhi jaaye aisi movie nahin hai. Hype toh kuch jyada hi tha. Actors were all good, story itna manjha hua nahin tha.
This film has extremely Misogynistic Love story and cringe jokes like comparing the teeth of a woman to a buffalo's teeth.
The hero follows heroine. She doesn't like it.
Hero pinches her waist without consent. She hates it.
In the song, he peeps into her bathroom while she is taking bath.
Just coz you make a film based in the 80s, you don't have to copy the cringe love stories from 80s films.
Achyuth's Character Devendra Suttoor has to be one of the better portrayals of Savarna Liberals. Savarna Liberals stay so-called 'allies' of Dalits as long as Dalits don't disrupt their Caste and Class Privilege.
Daiva : Example Veera Bhadra, ferocious guardian diety of Lord Shiva. Not d forgiving type. No mercy. One gets the punishment for their mistakes then n there itself.
Panjurli is accompanied by ferocious Guliga.
King finds the sacred stone, Panjurli God.
Panjurli tells him that even though he can forgive if any mistake committed, he would be accompanied by ferocious guliga who will not forgive if the promise is broken.
During Bhoota Kola( bhoota means pancha bhoota, the Earth, sky, water, fire n air... the worship of nature in general) a ritual performance in which the gods are said to possess the body of the performer, the descendent demands for the land to be given back to him...
Performer (Panjurli) tells him, if the descendant could return back what he/ his family got from him in exchange, for all those n henceforth coming generations ( the peace of mind), then I can get back the land from d people.
The descendant says "so u can't give me back what belongs to me. Then I do know, how to take it back"( where he thinks of legal approach but doesnt mention abt that openly)
Panjurli Performer : U want to go to court. But this land belongs to people. And this will be settled, not today, but later, in the coming years at the right time. U go to the court but I will do the justice on the court steps.. (before the descendant could proceed legally with it)
Performer possessed by Panjurli at that moment, tells him if these words were from the performer, may u or people find him.
And if it's my words i.e God Panjurli's words, (find him if u can expression/ challenge) and vanishes in d dense forest.
Hope this explains @Subhodayam
The act of vanishing or disappearing into the forest by the performer doesn't seem to be a myth, as i saw a video on YouTube where people form human chains during Bhoota kola to stop the performer from running away into forest. I don't know why so but anyone from that region who knows it can explain that better...
Only non-Hindi languages (Kannada, etc) are available for the audio track.
