Kerala Trip Itinerary Suggestions needed

I have planned family trip (me, spouse & 3 yrs. Old kid) to kerala. I have booked flight tickets. Will reach kochi at night on this 13/09 & will depart from Trivendrum on 22/9 morning. So i have 9 nights for trip.

I want more of relaxing trip & don't want to just touch multiple points. Needed itinerary plan & few suggestions.

My Tentative plan:

13/9 night - cochi
14/9 to 16/9 (3 night) - munnar
17/9 night - s/s of cochi
18/9 night - Allepy
19/9 to 21/9 - Trivendrum/Kovalam

My questions are:

1) I have been to thekady previously & i don't think it is worth. So skipping it is wise ?

2) Which area is preferable to stay in munnar ? In city area or outskirt resorts ? Any suggestions are welcome.

3) Which 1 to prefer out of Allepy Vs. Kumarkom ?

4) Does Trivendrum, Kovalam require 3 nights or i can cut short it & extend 1 more night in kochi ?

5) Heard Varkala is good place. Should i go for Varkala or Kovalam ?

6) Which is preferable place to stay - Trivendrum/Kovalam/Povar Island ?

7) I m thinking to go by train from Allepy to Trivendrum. Is it good option ot Taxi is better ?

Thanks in advance for suggestions blush

1. Yes

2. Stay in city area currently it is raining in Kerala it may cause landslide so city area is better

7. Use train safe and faster than a taxi on day time.

1)if visited can be skipped

2) rain is unpredictable in kerala, rain should normally stop by this time

out skirts are better if no rain

3.mostly it is the same in kumarakom & alleppey same house boats same back  waters

alleppey is less crowded kumarakom is commercialized one so it depends on your mindset

4.kochi is more of a commercial hub, trivandrum & surroundings are worth seeing

5.Yes Varkala is good  with a cliff beach cons : costly hotels, limited accommodation, commercialised

6.Trivandrum may be cheap to stay Povar island may be good but it may be costly

  best accommodation Trivandrum KTDC Chaithram

7 Trivandrum & Alleppey are well connected by train .Recommended

1.Santa Cruz Basilica, Mattancherry Palace,Jew Town, Fort Kochi are all nearby to your place of stay.

Kochi is called the queen of the arabian sea mainly due to the spice trade  right from 14th century centred in these areas.

May if time permits a visit to the marine drive at sunset which is just a boat drive from fort cochin.. 1/2 day is gone.

Perhaps the most important place near kochi,is kaladi the birth place of Adi Shankara ,you won't have time

2. I would prefer a late evening ride from 4 pm -a sunset on a boat is beautiful but some prefers to have a

lunch onboard a house boat (Shikara mostly will not have a kitchen)

3.I have no much idea about this  as personally I have not stayed in a resort ( stayed with a  friend there ).  suggested ones by others elixir resort, tea   country resort

Can anyone suggest to me, a good houseboat to book (a family of 4) for a day-night tour at Kumarakom or Alleppey in Kerala? Also, Is it possible to book a houseboat starting from Kumarakom but getting dropped at Alleppey?
