Simply the anchor at CNBC Awaaz Mr. Hemant Ghai, bought large quantity of shares on his wife’s and mother’s name the day before recommending it on his morning show “Stock 2020”. He created a buzz by giving all positive reviews about the shares(He owned) and lay people would buy it in the hope of making money, as you know, more buying means more demand and hence the increase in price! He than simply would sell the stocks he owned at the higher price!! Hence when large quantities are sold the price drops(Supply) and you are at losing side. He made around 3 crores doing this. So next time don’t wonder why there is sudden price drop when you buy shares. The game is far more complex than you would have thought it is. “Jaago grahak jaago!”

Seems 2020 was actually the year of scams/frauds/cybercrimes more than pandemic.
Acted like a fool. Who on right mind will use close relative’s account for trading? Used mother’s and wife’s trading account would have been unscathed if he were using some other account.
Inexperienced scammer
There was a story about it earlier too. Someone made huge money from the tips they gave. Actually he just did opposite to what was recommended. If they told to buy he sold it on that day. Finally, he has become crorepathi.
Yes it’s a common practice. I know some traders do this.
