LET’S TALK HEALTH

Hello everyone!

These days, for anything we just google it or search on YouTube and it’s really helpful for most of the things.

But when it comes to Health, most of the time, whatever symptoms you type in, it tells you that you may have a Cancer! OR else google will tell you it’s nothing to bother when it actually needs medical attention.

There’s HUGE lack of CORRECT INFORMATION about health and diseases. On the same note, there is a whole lot of MISINFORMATION on social media.

We, Dr. Shashidhar Tatavarty (HOD, ENT, Artemis Hospital, Gurgaon) and Dr. Nikhil Aggarwal (General Physician, Gurgaon) are starting a Facebook Live series (on DocTalks Facebook page) on Q & A pattern where we’ll talk about various medical conditions and diseases.

Please keep pouring in all your questions related to health (even if very basic or trivial ones, related to any medical speciality or diet/ nutrition or exercise or anything health).

You can mail your questions to [email protected] (Please write LTH QA-(topic) in the subject line of the mail)

I recently did my blood test along with my parents -

1st = Me/DAD/MOM

Post sugar – 80/122/361
Cholesterol 145/129/236

My dad is already a bypass patient and operated in Asian heart, BKC long back in 2011 but he is very active as far as his excercise is concerned.

My mom did not have any previous medical history but this all because of this things have changed. We did take immediate consultation and she’s having her tablets on daily basis (Rimisave) and I am worried because of this too. Also, she has started eating brown rice too.

Any advise for her which would be beneficial for her lifestyle??

Her age is 58. God bless you for your sweet gesture sunglasses
Will follow this thread. HA+Karma on your way blush

If this is the post prandial (PP) sugar, your mother's is quite high. But as such fasting sugar & HbA1C are more significant for diagnosis.
The cholesterol is higher for her too but there are so many components in lipid profile which are more important than cholesterol, namely LDL, non HDL and triglycerides.
Brown rice is better but consumption quantity is much more important than the type of rice or oil or sugar or salt or anything.

I don't know any medicines as Rimisave. There's one Ramisave which is for blood pressure.
This is a very limited information here. But she probably should be on more medicines and strict lifestyle control if her sugar level is 361.

ADVICE
1. Do proper consultation. I can't advise any treatment here. I think your doctor may have prescribed more treatment based on the full reports & examination.
2. For lifestyle, I have started a wellness program. I have an excellent dietitians and a yoga trainers in my team. In this thread I have posted a live session with my dietitian if you want to see how she is.
3. If you want to manage yourself at home, I have excellent video series about Diabetes on my channel, watch that and follow properly.

How can we deal with Cancer Relapse?

I hope there was a right answer and I knew that!

In my own experience, fighting Cancer was very difficult but once I came into believing that I’ve won the battle, getting it back again was the most hopeless I have ever felt.
