Life insurance for NRI

Hi all,
As I have been said that life insurance once put can not be changed thereafter, I am a bit confused. Cz, I am working in IT and there is a scope that I may go onsite (even though it is not 100%, there is a chance). And the insurance I have put may not come into effect if anything happens outside the country. What should one do?! Will my family members able to claim?! Or is there any policies which include uncertainties in foreign land(I am aware that these types are available for health)?

Thanks for the tag, I’ve very little knowledge regarding insurance, never tried to get deep into this, paid lic only 3 times till date that too recently, as far as I know your family will get the benefits in case of any unforeseen events irrespective of the fact you live here or in foreign.. hopefully you’ll get help from more knowledgeable people
