Friends, my sister lost her Redmi note 4 that I gifted her a month back.. She visited a bank branch, and someone stole the phone when she kept on cashier’s desk and was filling a form.. I have already filed a FIR, but want to find out if anything else can be done to recover her phone? There is lots of imp data and photos in the phone.

login to her google account
Try locating device through android device manager ( would work only if phone is on and connected through internet )
try attempting factory reset

Only police contacts help. Just recovered my rn3 after 2 months .impossible without police help .cyber cell
@stranger333
Luckily Mi is a inbuild battery phone so the theif cant do more than switching off
So there is an option in mi phones to track the location and the link is : https://googleweblight.com/i?u=https://xiaomi-m...
Or else you can login to your google account and there is an option for tracking it !!
So try doing these both methods it will work as its a non removeable battery phone !!
my phone even don’t switch off if someone wants to.
i.mi.com
Login to your account
Click find device or lock or erase whatever
Tks friends for such quick response @jwhwbisj we already saw footage.. Police will be taking the footage from bank on Monday.. But it’s not very clear and I don’t know how easy it would be to find amongst millions of ppl
@zafarkhan4433 I didn’t enable the android tracking from settings.. But yes, she was always logged in to her google account.. Will this help in tracking?
@pjsandyy @getready I didn’t create MI account either.. So don’t think MI tracking will be possible
I hope she is using lock screen password at least
I got fedup asking my sister to use lock screen password but she always preferred to use none
If you are not using mi account, then retrieval of data is not possible if she is using lock n device is not rooted
But they can completely wipe the device and sell it off
@getready there is lock screen password (drawing and not numbers) and also fingerprint pw.. I am wondering can the theif wipe the device and change imei even if he is unable to unlock? I hope police puts imei on tracking
You have to specifically ask for tracking , they charge you around 1500 or something i guess
Also, I have yet blocked the 2 sims (idea and jio) as I am guessing that by mistake if the theif starts the phone, his location will get tracked. Do u think I should block?
Mobile operators won’t help u at all in this regard. Tracking n stuff
Even for sim block they might ask u FIR
@getready no, for sim blocking they don’t ask fir.. I hv done tht in the past also when I lost my Nokia ph..
@getready @pjsandyy @zafarkhan4433 guys, any idea if imei number of ph can be changed?
No idea about that !! But try logging to gmail account in PC and there is an option of android device manager !! These may help you out !!
2. Block those idea and jio nos and take a new sim card of the same nos , its possible just take adhar card and get the same mobile no with new sim .
block those numbers
I asked for tracking.. He said he will put both imeis on tracking asap. Didn’t ask or mention any charges
How to do this? Do I need to do this on pc?
Guys. Someone broke the window pane of my car and took my bag which had redmi note 4 that I had puchased just 3 days ago. Please help me to recover it. I will be really indebted for any support that I can get. I did have MI account logged in. Tried using android device manager but it says location unavailable so I tried the option of resetting the data. Please tell me if anything else can be done.
Have already lodged FIR.
I heard somewhere that ,the device can be locked just by sending a message…
Btw u purchased mi protect plan or not??
Just wanted to know how to buy MI protect plan ? While purchasing didn’t found MI protect , it’s possible now 1week over
This device can be looked I guess only if u have enabled settings from Android device manager which I did not unfortunately. Mi plan doesn’t cover theft.
Sad to hear bro.. We are in same boat.
Dear Sir,
As per your query we would like to inform you that please block your sim due to security reasons and lodge an FIR in the nearest police station regarding your concern.
Regards,
Yogita.
Are you really from idea customer care? If yes, can u pls help me track using imei? I already have filed a FIR and can produce the copy.
how can u do
plz help me my MI REDME MI NOTE 4
you can see location history to track where the phone was after it was stolen, provided after stolen, the phone got internet connectivity either through wifi or wan.
1) Goto https://www.google.com/maps/ti...ne login to the gmail account which is linked to your phone select date and time to see where the phone was at what time.
2) Use android device manager to lock and change password (theif might watch you unlocking to know the password) of your phone https://www.android.com/devicem...er.
All the thief can do is use the device for spares only ( to use display or other parts for other damaged phones) reason being,
1) you have logged in to your google account in phone and locked the device, in that case even if the theif resets the device it will ask the original google account to be logged in to use.
2) Since you have made a FIR, police would have added the IMEI’s to their tracking list and broadcasted to all operators, so the moment when someone inserts SIM, they will get caught.
On the other hand If the device is rooted, it is very easy to change the IMEI but not everyone knows this option.
IMEI surveillance on instructions by Police is must for tracing the device. But sadly in this country, the Police never puts any mobile on IMEI surveillance unless it is associated with a more serious crime. They may themselves be involved in protecting the thiefs, for a commission, otherwise it doesn’t require much efforts to forward the surveillance request to all mobile operators. If you can manage thru your contacts, IMEI surveillance, the device would be traced in a few days.
It is not easy to change the IMEI number of REDMI Note and other battery sealed mobiles. Attempt to Change it may result in non-functioning of many apps and even damage the device forever. So thief would 1st try to sell it without changing the IMEI.
Today My bro Lost his RN4,He logged in with MI acc but not in MiCloud…Tracked with android device manager able to get the location of last login…wt to do now?i think they changed sim cards…
Did u file FIR?
what if they simply flash new rom:evil:
fyi, even I lost my phone today
I had bought damaged redmi note 3 mobile on olx. Being damaged seller couldn’t factory reset it before giving it to me. So after replacing display mobile was working fine but locked. It was easy to just flash and start using the mobile without any assistance from original owner.
So what all locking and fingerprint locking is of use?
One can always use mobile without logging into mi account. So all security and protection is hogwash only.
Security/Protection is to safeguard your private data
You may be able to flash a new rom even with locked bootloader on redmi note 3 but that would wipe the entire internal storage
You can flash a new rom via Mi Flash tool without wiping the storage but in this case. lock screen protection will still be there
You can access personal files with custom recovery but for that Unlocked bootloader is a must
If the phone is locked and if the prev owner didn’t enable USB debugging indeveloper options , there’s no way you can unlock the bootloader
Even to flash modified boot images, you need fastboot drivers to work in the bootloader mode and for that USB debugging is required
With newer devices like Redmi Note 4, if you had linked a mi account to your phone and if bootloader is locked you cannot flash new rom. Edl mode no longer works
After adding fingerprint scanner in android phones, I thought it would be as good as iphones which can not be used I guess if stolen which they are locked. Which is not the case it seems.
Will device storage encryption make it unusable in such situations for android mobiles?
And if one is using custom ROM, there is normally always a custom recovery and bootloader locked. So how one can improve theft protection in that case? I think even custom recovery should have access restriction then.
I am not talking about private data. I am talking about ability of device not to give access to any usage to unauthorised person.
I meant unlocked bootlaoder and custom recovery while using custom ROM.
changing imei is easy with root xposed and imei changer
Just want to …..can anyone use my redmo note 4 if I had mi cloud acount or anything like that
Please give me help my redmi note 4 lose
Since the phone is lost in bank, request the bank to check cctv footage
