When we are in big WhatsApp groups, we have a common problem of too many images and videos in the gallery that are shared on whatsapp.

To solve this problem you can use a WhatsApp feature where you can see the pics in group only.. without saving them to your phone..
Please follow below steps:

1) Click on 3 dots shown on the right top corner in the group.
2) Click on the first option i.e. GROUP INFO
3) Three options shown below the group name i.e. mute notifications, custom notification, Media visiblity
4) Click on the third option MEDIA VISIBILITY
5)Click on “No” option

Now the media will not be saved in your phone. but it will display only in your group chats..

Now that you know….act and inform your other group members in other groups.

This feature is only available in groups and also in individual chats.

I am sure some people will need this.

This will not save any space
This will just mark the directory as hidden, which means it is not accessible to gallery apps.

It’s Media “Visibility” after all.

Not everybody could mean few people.
And I have a memory card too, but still I would prefer not seeing certain media in my gallery, so its good for people like me too.
Like I said, some might need it. Not all.

Like @avgn mentioned, the media will still be saved and it occupies memory in phone/sd card. The option just hides the file being seen in gallery app. This option makes sense if you have sensitive or stupid content which can hamper the other media visibility.
@Wontdisplaymyname Please update the post than misleading further

for large groups which generate too much media, select option to switch off auto download. then phone memory will not get eaten up.
open in pc browser (whatsapp web) to check media if needed.
