Is there a way to make ICICI or HDFC account zero balance using a fixed deposit ??
In ICICI we can make a insta save fd account but if we close it then it will be converted to normal account. After than can we create a new fd to make it zero balance again ?? Also can we sweep in and out of that FD ??
I don't know if a similar thing for hdfc is there.

If you open up a Wealth Management account at ICICI with an initial 5L balance, it is then a 0 balance account.
icici had a option of 'convert your account to salary account' in imobile and netbanking. Just credit a high amount like 35k+ to your account through neft (this should not be from a person, e.g. you can try paytm merchant) and after that credit, use the above option and place a service request. Your acc will be converted to salary acc 0 balance.
Not sure if they convert again to normal acc. I used this in february and enjoying salary acc till now
HDFC saving max(25k mab) can be made zero balance by opening 1.5L FD of min 6month term.
Personally tested this.
appears to be this. I was perplexed as to why my account indicates a minimum balance requirement of 0.
Is insta save fd account of icici really not available now ?? In their terms is is still specified and also in insta save faq
yes 1.5 lacs FD on HDFC savings max account
2.5 lacs FD on ICICI gold privilege
both make it zero MAB
All debit cards are free and upgradable on special program accounts like classic and upward variants. We classic members do not get charged for most services, get it if you can else don't bother with savings max, if you cannot pay 400/yr when you can easily earn 4800/year in rewards with millennia dc. @IndianDimer
Also, can we hv 1 regular account with millenia dc+1 max account with platinum dc in same branch under same cust id?
I've seen many reports that people are being charged for upgrade downgrade from default debit card for savings max accounts and the time or efforts to reverse (successful sometimes) aren't worth it most of the times. Account can have many sub-codes and who knows what they enter and how the system tags it internally, not everything is visible to the user. @IndianDimer @guest_999 @Simbha3
My suggestion would be (how I had done it about a year ago): Already had old savings account (single) under classic program, called up RM and told need another single account under same custID for personal/accounting spends purpose. Agent was sent, told just custID, gave PAN copy, he filled up form and I signed. He asked what DC I'd like, told Millennia. He said free for you as would'be be tagging this account under classic, right? Confirmed that yes, do so. Account was opened in a week and Millennia card reached in 10 days, everything showing correctly in netbanking and app... I dunno what sub-code for new account they had put, and effectively it is zero balance companion account under classic tag.
Things might have changed now, experiences might differ based on branch and RM. Getting atleast classic with HDFC is definitely recommended for everyone who has that bit of money to spare and wants to get some benefits out of HDFC...
Is only 5L initial deposit needed to enrol into classic program or need to maintain 1L amb even after that ?
& ONE week to open an savings account?!! Does hdfc take 1 week to open account?
If your account is converted to classic debit card charges will not be added.
And if you change the variant now you will be charged for new debit card.
@IndianDimer I didn't visit, all processed through RM/agent and offline form was used, they take time to consolidate those over the week and submit/process according to their free time (that's the work culture of most banks who send agents to home) and don't forget non business days were also there in 1 week. I got all info through sms, updation in netbanking etc (account ready in about a week), card delivered few days later.
You seem to be on a F1 race for account, and I think the way you're planning to hold 2 accounts so fast won't satisfy your need for speed...
Average Monthly Balance of Rs.1 Lakh in the Savings Account OR Average Quarterly Balance of Rs. 2 lakhs in Current Account OR Average Monthly Balance of Rs. 5 Lakhs in combination of Savings Account and Fixed Deposit (as per their site). It's good to mention you'd want to start with classic, they have a form and will guide you and process after account is opened.
I think ICICI InstaSave FD account is no longer available to open. I had it. I closed my FD but the account is still zero balance. I had closed it in February. It is not possible to open an FD again in case they convert it into normal savings account. Then you will have to maintain 10k per month average balance.
