Minimum balance in sbi savings account

Today my friend was charged Rs. 100+gst for non maintenance of charges in sbi. Branch says that minimum balance of 2500 is required as its urban branch.where can we see minimum balance limit in online banking or website?branch also told him to get account code changed by giving an application to be converted to zero balance account.what is this now?

Didnt know of the new notifications being posted by Dimers but as far as I know, It was/is 1000 for Rural & 2500 for Urban Branch. Have two accounts and maintaining the balance since long.

they have also started charging money on depositing money through kiosk machines in atm, maybe it gets charged after a limit or certain number of transactions.

in April 2020, at the time of Corona First wave, SBI has removed MAB charges for Savings account.
Before that they use to charge. Rural we have to keep 1000 and Urban we have to keep 3000 minimum.
Edit : Right now having SBI balance less that 500 more than a year (Urban). Not charged even once.
Please raise a complaint against branch through Twitter and through nodal office, do post update here.

Then it is better to change the variant (before doing this, take care whether other facilities which ur friend needs is available in the new variant).
If possible, request a waiver for the 100+gst charged (Bank being SBI, doubtful whether they will provide it.) Else ignore it and move on.

his account type changed to non chequebook.chequebook cancelled. bank said no charges will be reversed. now account is zero balance.
friends in ur sbi account do u deposit money thru kiosk machine in atm? is it chargeable? here they deduct rs. 25 for any amount deposited i.e. for one cash deposit.
As i already mentioned earlier, ask ur friend to deposit Cash in CDM machine by using his debit card. There will be no charges.
If he deposit cash by only entering account no and phone no, then they will charge Rs.25 for each txn.
That’s a new thing to hear now. Sbi has waived off minimum balance requirements for all their accounts a while ago…
