Do 79 rs recharge using offers. 21 days both incoming outgoing and after that 7 days only incoming. So 28 days incoming in 79 rs

Do not know if it is circle specific or subscriber specific, but even in 2022

Irrespective of what the operators say, they (due to high customer attrition?) keep the number active for long.

And in our case, even provided incoming till about 25-26 days atleast (after the plan validity ended. We recharged with 99₹ thereafter as we needed outgoing.)

But another dead/dormant number (last recharged 10-11 months back) still shows ‘number you are calling is currently switched off’.

And not ‘temporarily disconnected’.

Nor anyone has used that number to link to whatsapp.

We still have a whatsapp account linked to that number.

Not sure though, if that number has been reissued to someone.

Next time, consider ₹99 for 28 days.

Even if one ignores the 99₹ main balance and as some suggested even PORT message goes.

79 for 21 days ≈ 376.19 paise per day

99 for 28 days ≈ 353.571 paise per day.

Also, in 79 pack, keep checking through app or sms, VI credits 10 Gb 3G data or 1 GB/day for 5-7 days free if sim is in smartphone, you may use it for some downloads

Yes agreed, but recently they started blocking incoming of not recharged numbers.

Airtel as usual is the exception it seems. No freebies. And to add insult to injury can’t use main balance for anything. Even Carrier Billing on Play Store is gone. Mr. Mittal and friends must be really hard up for money I guess.

Ok… Anyone interested to port to Vi needs to shell out Rs 179 or 299 :-\

As porting out mum’s number to BSNL was a terrible idea, I now plan to have her number ported back to Vodafone. So I see that their mandatory minimum recharge is 79 nowadays? Or is it 99? And they are still continuing the illicit practice of not allowing SMS with these plans?

Officially no OG SMS is allowed. But others have mentioned PORT SMS works. If its like Airtel any OG SMS could work. But it seems Vi is now gradually striving to block IC SMS which earlier continued to work long after IC expiry. Vi Twitter had earlier confirmed that PORT SMS can be sent in the 79 pack.

Thank you. For SMS it should be the other way around Lol. Port messages are seldom used, but conventional SMS aren’t.

Thanks for the confirmation. I wish in this aspect (and only in this one) Vi copied Airtel. I guess I have to (over) spend Rs 155 just to send a few messages for UPI verification as part of a switch to A12 which requires a clean flash. Oh well. At least it’s only once a year.

If you have need for data use, recharge with 418 – 56 days, 100 GB. If you have main bal, you will be able to send sms. Any unused will be carried forward as long as you do min recharge within validity.

Some type of SMS’es go through. For e.g. I tried logging in Freecharge, where it verifies device by sending SMS from your phone. That worked. I tried logging in AU Bank where similarly it verifies device by sending SMS from your phone. That didn’t go through.
