My MacBook Air is not turning on, please help.

Hi Friends,

I am using windows 10 on my MacBook Air 2015. While I was working, System got freezed. I thought to restart the machine but after I press power button, it’s not turning on..

I have tried NVRAM, SMC reset, kept charging for more than 12 hours, removed battery connection and tried to turn on directly while power adapter is connected and also I tried Disconnecting and reconnecting the Display, Battery and SSD but nothing helped..

I observed that when I press power button, fans runs for a second and turns off and again turns on and off and it keeps repeating. Machine is failing to boot up..

This is third time I am facing this issue. Last 2 times I tried PRAM reset and it worked. But this time no response from machine. Anyone here faced this issue..?? Please help with the solution if you have any.. 😢😢

Thank you in advance.. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

If it isn’t a hardware issue and if not yet tried revovery mode or OS reinstall,

then try those once.

https://www.howtogeek.com/189104/troubleshoot-your-mac-with-these-hidden-startup-options

Hopefully instead of having to reinstall, if somehow Recovery Mode option is working https://www.howtogeek.com/189575/8-mac-system-features-you-can-access-in-recovery-mode then you might get somewhere.

Else

last option from your side might be to https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295

For aftermarket genuine repairs of Apple products, your options would be negligible.

Louis Rossmann, Jessa Jones (of http://ipadreh...om ) are the kind of people to go to or take advice on Apple, if one is in the west.

But here, after the service centres refuse or quote some price… one has little to no options.

get ready to pay at least 8k for repair(non apple service center),else pay around 15-20k

You need to seduce it properly and also do some foreplay. Else sometimes it is difficult to turn on.

Thank you for ur reply. reinstalling the OS is possible when systems gets on. In my case, MacBook itself is not booting up. 😞😞

Issue could be related to Motherboard/RAM (Power supply/battery seems to be ok). Get it checked via local technician once, if it is MB then its better to get a new laptop

Seems like a CPU Overheating issue. The sudden turning off of the system seconds after turning it on and constant restarting indicates that. I have no clues on how a Macbook Air can be opened up to clean off the dust. You can look up Youtube videos showing how to do that and take a shot doing it yourself else give it to the local Apple Device repair centers to do the job.

Since the Macbook is anyways out of warranty, no point in giving to the Authorized Service Centers and paying hefty amounts. Most likely they are going to give the device back to you saying the motherboard needs to be replaced etc. I doubt it they actually do some troubleshooting to find the root cause of the problem.

When you reset SMC does the light on magsafe changes to green to confirm the reset?

Try disconnecting the battery and charger, then hold the power button for 5 secs, connect the charger while holding  and let go the power button.

Most likely mobo issue or less likely ram failure. Both will need you to get it checked at some local shop specialized in macbook repair.
