Hey everyone,
I want to share a recent experience with Yatra that has left me disappointed and concerned about consumer rights.
I booked a flight and received a seat confirmation, only to be later asked by Yatra to make additional payments. It feels like a calculated strategy to deceive customers.
As consumers, we deserve transparency, fairness, and honesty from service providers. It's crucial to raise awareness about such incidents to protect ourselves and others.
Let's be vigilant and share our experiences with Yatra and similar service providers. Together, we can shed light on these issues and demand accountability.
If you've faced similar challenges, please share support here twitter post. Let's learn from each other and take action to safeguard our rights.
Their customer care is useless.
Once, I wanted to change the flight and it took ages for contacting them and their system made me wait for many hours for a date change.

Yes someone said they charge 800 conv fee for air ticket while all other platforms charge 300-350
It is effectively same. They normally offer more discounts or lesser prices than others.
On a side note, it sometimes help in Smartbuy booking, as convinience is pretty much same for all, but yatra prices are less.
To op, after how many days u were asked for extra payment? And did u had option to cancel and get 100% refund?

I received a ticket confirmation from Yatra immediately after making the payment. The seat numbers were displayed and confirmed. Out of curiosity, I visited the airline's website to check my booking, and to my surprise, there were no assigned seats. I contacted the airline, and they informed me that no seats were actually confirmed, and I would need to make an additional payment.
I reached out to Yatra again, and they insisted that seat confirmation was solely their prerogative and will need to pay for seat. Unfortunately, the flight is non-refundable, so canceling is not an option.
Again why did this happen?😢

What were the charges for? Are they for seat allocation which was not charged at the time of booking? preferred Seats are chargeable in all airlines. The only way to escape is to not select a seat at the time of booking/web checking and choose the auto assignation. if post the break up here of the fare plus extra charge it will be give a clear picture. They might not be charging you extra after all.

While comparing prices for an international flight across multiple services such as MMT, EaseMyTrip, and HDFC, I noticed that Yatra offers the option to select seats and meals during the booking process. Many people have mentioned that Yatra charges a higher convenience fee, in my case 1700 INR for a 31k ticket, compared to other platforms. Furthermore, I have two examples that demonstrate the seat confirmation process. Firstly, the e-ticket issued by Yatra displays a seat number confirmed message. Additionally, I received an email from a Yatra representative at the beginning, which also mentioned the confirmation of seats. These instances prompted me to raise awareness among people to be cautious. I would have expected Yatra to either display a message during the seat selection process indicating that these seats are not guaranteed, similar to obtaining a visa where the application does not guarantee crossing the border. Alternatively, Yatra could have refrained from using the term "CONFIRMED" on the e-ticket. In such a case, I would have booked the same ticket on another platform with a lower convenience fee or directly through the airline.

Ransome wrote:Yeah, that's correct. If you don't select a seat and choose the auto-assign option, you won't be charged extra as the ticket will only confirm the booking, without a seat. The seat will be allotted at the check-in counter.
i think whole situation could've been avoided by adding disclaimer but yatra site designed to to show free seats and asking people to pay high conv. fee making ppl belive that seat price is included in total.
otherwise, you can easily buy at cheaper price at cleartrip without selecting seat and confirm at checkin.
I booked a bus ticket last year with Yatra Gift Card and ticket was confirmed. When journey was at 10 PM, bus operator cancelled the bus at 4.30 PM and sent a message. I was fine with it as there may have been some issue with bus guys and thought gift card would be refunded within a week or so.
But it took close to 60 - 75 days for refund. I sent multiple mails to Customer Support and also marked their CEO and directors but no use. Finally raised complaint on Consumer Helpline portal and then automatically they refunded gift card and posted there with comment " Already refunded few days back. Please check". IDIOTS.

Actually ,the total price was similar to this final price which i have uploaded here and on other websites the rates were similar to yatra thats why didnt think of that much! but there might be some tax issues which they are showing by showing more convienice fees and providing at a same rate like others @Knight11
So,it was not a loss for me!
