my views on the (hindi version) of Pushpa: the rule - part 2

what language is this feature film originally in?

dubbing seemed too unnatural in many places and the script were outright weird.

I can understand that happening with (the 1990s film) Roja.. where the militia are speaking Dogri or Hindi and the lead couple are not.
But the Hindi version of 'Roja' had everyone speaking in Hindi, yet not getting each other.

But in this movie, the setting is shown in a state that is not a neighbouring state of Maharashtra, still the phrases and words used by the male lead is in various dialects, languages from Maharashtra.

Maybe in the past 30 plus years, we have had an overhang of the comic and stunt sequences of Rajnikant,
comedic expressions, antics of the likes of Vadivelu, Brahmanandam.

Thus, higher expectations (if not comparisons) invariably happen.

I have not know if Pusha-2 is just a name or an actual sequel, but if the objective was to glorify the male lead, if the objective was to portray him on a larger than life canvas, then it seems to have achieved its goals.. in so long as the audiences are similar to the stalls, upper stall or even the dress circle area (in the cinema halls of 1970s, 1980s, 1990s).

Good for the movie makers if the same old formula from 30-40 years back.. still works.

But at-least in the Hindi version of the movie.. there was no jazz like the movies of Prabhudeva, Kamal Haasan, Rajni.

And those who have enjoyed the mannerisms and the comedy of the likes of Rajni, Brahmanandam, Vadivelu.. especially the physical comedy of the latter.. would mostly find cringe in this film.

Storyline too did not feel as cohesive. It felt like individual sequences (or mini sub-plots) sown together in a loose attempt to give the feel of a storyline.

Like I said, I am unaware if there is larger context to the film, in continuation of a previous release.
I could be wrong, but I did not see much of a storyline in this particular iteration.

Live location set design, lighting/shadow elements are not easy to manage, utilise to their fullest but the technical team and the post production too seem to have done a fairly good job in many of the scenes and sequences.

Since I have not listened to the original language film, i ought not to go in an in-depth critique of the actors who got the most screen time.
However it did feel like the direction and the script were uninterested in propping up others.. except two three characters.

To me, Abdul Hameed Mohammed Fahad Fazil (Fahad Fazil) was the only other male actor in Pushpa 2: The Rule who had sone recall value after the atrociously long three plus hours movie was over.

Unfortunately other actors did not really get much time or importance on the final cut, for at-least me to have much of a critique on their performances.

Again, I know I did not watch/ listen to the non-Hindi, original version.. but apart from the forced comedic lines, action sequences.. the directors seemed to not give much range to the male lead either.
Even the intimate bits between the lead couple, in the Hindi version, neither felt naughty/romantic, nor that funny.

The financiers, producers, distributors, music rights owners, exhibitors have all made money, so in that sense.. such reviews would not matter (in the larger scheme of things).

Even if it were a 120 minutes long movie, it might have been more palatable, but 200 minutes.. 🤷🏻‍♂they could have edited it.

Views are personal. Except for my time, I neither paid to watch the movie, nor anyone is prompting me or providing any benefits for sharing my critique.
I wish I understood the language that the original audiences for whom the movie was made for
and I wish I had seen/listened to it in that language.

It's an accident and it is not intentional. Calling an actor for an accident is uncalled for. But bollywood fans can go any extent to degrade South movies and actors.
