Hello everyone,

I'm looking for ideas for my savings bank account with HDFC(1 year old) standard and used to maintain around 10k as that's the basic requirement to upgrade it to classic. I've transferred 2L into that account recently(last week) so the total balance is like 2.2L and using it regularly.

So, should I visit the branch and fill the form for classic upgrade or wait for auto upgrade invite through netbanking?

PS: I've an Infinia credit card with 11.5L limit which I've got recently.

PPS: Previously CITI is my primary account and now moving to HDFC as I citi is closing it's operations and sold to axis bank. Thanks.

I nvr received any invite for classic banking via netbanking despite fulfilling all the eligibility criteria. Where do you see the invite?
In my case I had to contact my RM but he said he'll be sending a link for this and is still sending it

It should be under offers tab. How old is your account and how much money you maintain every month on an average?

Account is 1.5 yrs old, MAB would be around 1.5 L

Visit your home branch, fill the Classic Banking Programme Sign Up form and give it to the RM. Make sure to follow up with them regularly. BTW with 2lac balance you can directly go for Preferred Banking.

I've filled the form for  home branch update as my nearest HDFC branch last week and should be updated soon. As per RM there classic 2L, preferred 5L and then Imperia 10L. Not sure. He seems really not interested for individual account rather asking for family account.

oh cool...how old and how much you used to maintain? As per the receptionist they've stopped giving Infinia LFT since 2021 Oct or so. Only option is FYF Infinia. Yes for your question as per her if the spends are close to 8L in the previous 6 months and Regalia has more than 8L limit. However, after devaluation I don't see much benefit for Infinia except for metal status.

ok cool..You'd be getting in offers tab. Once do a quick search in youtube for the type of banner under offers tab.

I upgraded to Regalia LTF from Millenia LTF just an year ago. Limit is only 3.5L(have many cc from other banks). If there's no extra benefit other than metal status and no infinia LTF, then it's not worth i guess.

Yeah glad to hear and keep the Regalia LTF and wait if they offer Infinia LTF.. Also, any tips on getting the classic account from HDFC? As, you'd already preferred how old is your account and how much you maintain as AMB?

2L is the min balance for preferred. You can just go to any nearby branch, fill the application for preferred and submit. They'll gladly convert your existing account in a week or so. As preferred banking comes with dedicated banker, one of them may even visit your home too to get the application filled out with signaturs.

I think it's more related to law of diminishing marginal utility. The higher you go the less VFM you get. Currently I'm in preferred and RM so far is so good.

Are you currently in classic? What kind of services are you actually looking up to?

Check here to check if it's LTF or FYF and renewal benefits. You might try calling the RM and asking for a LTF Regalia. May I know the current limit and upgraded limit?

Thank You.
Current limit is 259000. I don't know they are giving me limit enhancement or not along with card upgrade...

Oh ok cool then..But recently one of my friends got his FYF Regalia and the renewal fee is 2,500 + GST but they'll be adding 2,500 RP which might be worth up to 50ps based on your redemption.

However, the catch is if you're spending a couple of lakhs or so on this card every year relatively you'll be getting more RP and cashback vice versa.

So, do your math and chose the upgrade wisely. Best Wishes.

So in a matter of a couple of months,  your HDFC account went from being just a regular account to Preferred and then to Imperia? That's fast work by HDFC.
