Need Help for CITI Credit Card Reward Points

Hi. Recently I got CITI reward credit card. I have loaded paytm wallet using this card with various amount like 1000rs, 2200rs etc. Then in monthly statement there was mismatch of points earned (usually it should be 1 point per 125rs, but it was not). When asked, CITI nodal team explained me today that particular 2200rs paytm wallet load transaction earned 10x points as it qualifies as “shop” BY MASTERCARD, while 1000rs transaction is normal (“other” category by mastercard) and earned 1rp/125. I asked them how can it possible, as all transactions are paytm wallet load only. And they replied, CITI is not controlling this as mastercard defines the merchant code and accordingly points are awarded.
So I need fellow dimers suggestion, if anyone knows what could be reason here that 2200rs wallet load gave 10x? Is it due to amount (2200>1000rs), but does not make sense that if amount is higher than (say) 2k gives 10x point..Anyone has similar experience with CITI RP.
It will be very helpful for me to accelerate RP accumulation if I can know exactly which transaction of paytm wallet load gives 10x points, as my main expenditure on citi reward will be paytm load only (to make 30k, so that yearly fees can be avoided). Please suggest. Thanks in advance.

Not exactly sure in your case; but I have seen that PayTm sometimes shows up as ptm-PayTm Noida, and sometimes as ptm-PayTm Chennai, etc. meaning to say which locations server it took the transaction for; It might be possible that one of them maybe having a different MCC code which might be giving the 10x; again this is just a guess !!! You may check this once in your statement as to what those 1K, and 2.2K merchant is exactly showing; is it just showing paytm or exact paytm-server name.

1000rs transaction mentioned in statement as “PTM*PAYTM NOIDA” while 2200rs transaction which gave 10x rp mentioned as “PAYTM NOIDA”. Not sure if we can arrive to any conclusion by this and how can we do paytm transaction in such a way that always “PAYTM NOIDA” reported.
