Only option is to buy good cheap wifi routers & use them as wired access points. The main jio fiber router can't be replaced, you need to connect a secondary router to it & then add another router to this secondary router as wired access point for extending range beyond secondary router range.

Hi guys,
Jio fiber range is not much it's less than 15 feets for better speedy connectivity.
What might be the best way to increase the range to further?? Please suggest Cost effective and efficient way.
Hoping some dimer would have faced the issue and have fixed with some with amazing technique.
Note: have bsnl syrotech wifi router, when I was using bsnl the range was pretty good, can I somehow hook syrotech router to jio router? Like LAN ?

I have syrotech router, which is an Direct fibre to Home router, can I use it??
curiosityfreak2020980 wrote:No! The direct fiber to home routers are meant to be used only with the connection for which they were provided by isp. To be more precise, a typical router available in market from companies like tplink, dlink, asus, netgear, tenda etc do not have components to handle ADSL(internet connection via telephone line) or fiber connection(internet via optical fiber connection). These "ADSL/optical fiber routers" are not meant to be used as typical routers but only with connection they came with.I have syrotech router, which is an Direct fibre to Home router, can I use it??

I would like to just add another point. If most of your devices are 5Ghz wifi capable, invest a bit more and get some ac1200 or ac1900 wifi routers and wire it as suggested with the jio fiber router.
I know one time costing more, but you won't regret the speed bump.

Perfectly said.

Xiaomi had a router in sale around 1k which was dual band and gigabit ports. It will be in sale again probably tonight.

If U R Connected To Wifi 5ghz, Range Is Less And Speed Will Be Blazing Fast If U R Near To Router... Connect To 2.4ghz For Long Range And Good Speed.
This should solve your issue.
guest_999 wrote:Then if you are worried about that then it's much better to get Xiaomi router 3G v1 and install openwrt
Airtel jio data is going to Indian company located within India & last time I checked airtel xstream router could be configured via web interface by connecting with lan wire.
guest_999 wrote:It is not mandatory to use the app. You can use your browser to access the web interface. Using it since 2 months as an access point and it's pretty good for a 1000Rs router. Only issue is 2 Lan ports of you want to use Lan.

Can you please share the link of the Xiaomi router

Product looks great,
1. do I need to connect a lan cable from jio router to the extender?
2. In future, if I move to other ISP, can I use this extender as primary wifi router?
3. Range of traditional AC700 compared to this?
My primary router is situated at 20 feet from my gate, 25 feet away from my work table. I get wifi connection at both these places but speed is very shitty.
If I keep the new device (assuming extender) beside the jio router will that increase the range and speed? I just need 10mbps uninterrupted supply. Have plan of 300mbps.

It is 1500 now.

2. No, you can't use it as a router.
3. Range will be lower then router with external antennas.
Extenders are not to be kept next to routers, they are to be setup at location where the wifi coverage is low to extend the network.
Also you will never get full 300mbps with extenders,. You need to get a dual band gigabit router and set it up as an access point using lan cable connected to your main router...

Then better to go with wifi router, connect it jio router.
As I need good connectivity at gate, as i am planning to get a wifi enabled camera. And also reach my work place.
Will wait for few days to grab a deal on the xiaomi or Tplink AC700 dual band router.

Also I can't seem to find Tplink ac700 router. I can see this TP-Link AC750 but this is not a gigabit router, Lan ports are limited to 100mbps which will limit your internet speed and future reusability.

1. I don't want to pull the wired from one end of the hall down to the end. Manging the lan would be difficult and doesn't look in home.
2. Yea it's AC750, my bad not 700. I should think of future too, does Xiaomi has 300mbps support?
curiosityfreak2020980 wrote:1. Using wifi to extend your network will limit your speed to around 70mbps using mi router. I am using Lan to extend it so in my case I get full bandwidth.1. 2. If you have the budget always get a router with gigabit ports. As even if you just use it to transfer files between your home pc etc speeds will be way faster then on a router with 100mbps ports.
I do not know how much mi router allow you to configure it using its web interface, I use their app mostly as it has some additional features
I have upgraded my home network (router, wifi access point, cables) to gigabit recently and it was worth the expense for me..
Waiting for a good deal on a gigabit switch to move most of my devices to LAN.

Archer c6 last time I checked came with wds option which is now coming in very few models in budget routers. Tplink even removed this option from latest versions of archer c20(I had older 2018 model having this option). It is preferred that you use same models from same company having wds feature(I suggest archer c6 but still make sure that latest version is coming with wds). In secondary router you need to do 2 things:
1. Set router ip address(found under lan settings) within same range as primary router ip range but outside of its DHCP server range(e.g.if primary router dhcp server is 192.168.0.101-192.168.0.200 then you need to set lan IP for secondary router as 192.168.0.2 I know many videos show to use any ip even within primary router DHCP range but in my experience using an IP outside of DHCP server range of primary router works better). Doing this also means that from now on when you open 192.168.0.1 in your pc browser then it will open primary tplink router settings page while 192.168.0.2 will open secondary tplink router settings page in browser.
2. Disable dhcp server in secondary router(there needs to be only one dhcp server in network).
Once you go in advanced wireless settings of secondary router(sometimes you may have to go into advanced system settings) & enable WDS option then a popup window will come up showing list of available wifi networks to connect to. Select the wifi network of primary router & click on connect. It will ask you to enter the password of that wifi network as usual & after that it should be connected within a minute.
