I booked an international flight via SpiceJet for my family via MMT. Considering the pandemic, international borders were closed, and the flight wasn't operational. Today finally after 6 months SpiceJet sent refund to MMT, and now MMT is deducting convenience fees, saying although flight wasn't operational, they are saying in any case for INTL flights, the conv. fees will never be refundable. Exact same flight and itinerary booked via Ixigo for 2 passengers (remaining passengers from my family) every penny was refunded including the convenience fees. Any suggestions help greatly appreciated

Nope. Ixigo refunded every penny of similar booking of the same exact flight however not MMT, these guys are daylight robbers.
Plus the T&C is ambiguous

I also received refund today for domestic travel booked before lockdown from spicejet .

MMT deducted 1500 as convenience fee.

This is unfair.

I think they have played smartly. There is nothing mentioned in the court’s order regarding agent fees

now when discount r getting decreased, always better to but tickets directly from airlines(for domestic flight i dont see too much diff)

This is their words before judgement.

A spokesperson for MakeMyTrip said: “As an intermediary, we have been passing on the refunds to our customers from the airlines in the manner as has been issued by them — be it cash refunds or credit shell and we will continue to do the same. As far as this affidavit is concerned, we will only be able to comment on it after going through the same.”

After refund they deducted convenience fees.

Same for me, MMT has deducted 2000+ fees and remaining amount is being refunded in 5 to 7 working days… I’ll prefer to book directly from airlines next time

MMT and goibibo deduct convenience charges for the refunds. Nothing can be done. That’s why you need to book directly on the airline site.

ixigo is definitely the best OTA - refunds instantly and refunds convenience fees when the airline cancels the flight !
