Samsung Galaxy tab S6 Lite. There’s decent custom ROM development available for it. Plus being an S-series device, 3 years of updates are guaranteed. But its priced a bit too close to ipad 8th gen. 32GB model which is a superior device in almost every way other than the aspect ratio which isn’t suitable for watching modern wide screen videos (but near perfect for PDFs, eMags, and other fixed-layout docs) and lack of expandable storage. The biggest drawback ofc is iOS! But that depends upon the user.

iPad 7th gen might be in your budget . And do you seriously need 64gb for a tablet. If you stream your movies and music, for games and apps you won’t need that much.
But honestly in tablet segment nothing comes near to an iPad, forget the specs. Use it for 2 years and then sell off to get quite a good price. Or keep using for 5 yrs without any issues. I have both Samsung android tab and iPad in the house. Both costly ones, so telling from my experience.
