Yesterday, i parked my motorbike in a "govt vehicles parking only" area, because I couldn't see the sign as it was covered by the cars. I saw few more motorbikes that were being parked there. After parking for about 10 minutes, when I came back to my motorbike, the traffic police told me that i parked in the wrong zone and that I will be fined. After an hour, a Rs.2000 challan sms was received in my phone.
I don't want to pay that hefty amount just for parking in the wrong zone. Is there any way I can complain about this? I didn't see the sign as it was far away and there were other non govt vehicles parking in there.
Any suggestions are highly appreciated.

You are legally bound to pay the challan.
If you want to save some money then don't pay it now and wait for next Lok Adalat date and settle your challan in court, around Rs 500 (depends upon court)

How do I settle it in Rs. 500? Is there any trick?
