I have tata platinum almost 2years and simply save almost 1 year from sbi. I do not wish to pay annual fees on both of them. But i wanna keep atleast one sbi card for occasional 10% offers on flipkart.
Earlier simply save was useful for grocery shopping but its difficult to track the Rewards and now i have smartearn card which serves the purpose of aprox 2.5% back.
Tata is of no specific use just gives 1% back on almost all the spends(excl. Wallet load which i recently discovered and disappointed).

Was thinking to either apply for
simply click for online rewards with annual fees of 500.(though i have apay icici n smartearn gives 5% and 2.5% on amazon)
Or
Irctc card with annual fees of 300
With no such rewards. Just for occasional 10% offers.

Am not sure if am missing out on any Reward multipliers from sbi. I dont have savings account with sbi.

Will it affect my score to close these both?
P.s these are not the cards i hold for the longest. i have other cards too

Close the one with less limit and upgrade other card to simplyclick.
Forget score, it will be normal

if any credit card companies ask you for any annual fees, or any additional fees – straight away ask them to close the account..

credit k liye regular basis pai charges pay karna koi faayday kee baat nai hai…

Possible hence advised you
Call customer care and ask for upgrade, but first close one card to get higher limit in the new card

Sbi guys are not bothered losing customers. They’ll be happy closing the account but not waive the fees

I am in kind of similar scenario.
Had SBI Gold and More credit card way back in 2008(used to be free) or so…used for 3/4 years…renewed card never reached me as my address was not updated on records….
SBI card account is still active as per SBI and CIBIL.

SBI customer care is so hopeless…I asked them to close my account..they initiated my fresh KYC and said we will sent you new card( which varient…they are clueless here) and closed my request…

no… i have different experience.

They expect us to spend certain amount on yearly basis to keep annual fees away…

Can anyone confirm practical examples of grocery, dining, movies and departmental stores based on your ‘real’ experience (not copy-paste from TnC) for SBI Simply Save Card ?

1) Offline Medicine Shop (Apollo Pharmacy/1med/medplus/other) gets 10x rewards in ‘department stores’ category ?
2) Online Medicine Sites (1mg/Netmeds/PharmEasy/Apollo 24×7) gets 10x rewards in ‘department stores’ category ?
3) Malls (BigBazar/Reliance Fresh/More/Spencers) gets 10x rewards in ‘grocery’ category ?
4) Swiggy/Zomato/Dineout/Dominos eligible for 10x reward points in ‘dining’ category ?
5) Offline Cloth stores / Kirana stores falls under which category ?
6) BookMyShow (BMS) eligible for 10x reward points in ‘movies’ category ?
7) Yatra/MMT/ClearTrip how much reward point they give for Simply Save, any idea ?

Any other spends which give 10x accelerated reward points based on your experience for Simply Save card ?

1.simplysave offer with 10X =2.5% while tata platinum offer 3% on grocery ; the reward option though is thru croma and croma stores do run festival discount season use it buy get some good deal
2.my take is change simplysave to simplyclick do al online shopping with amazon to get 7.25% (thru yono)
3.for offline grocery shopping use tata platinum with 3%
4.you can replace tata platinum with 3% with amex mrcc 3.5%(pm me for free 1st yr referral ) if all places offline u go support amex

I wish i knew about tata 3% earlier. Never read the terms in detail as they made it very confusing with empower and cashbacks seperately.

As SBI is a psu bank for opening the account you will have to visit branch once for kyc , so go to nearest branch for account opening after that you may do banking all life with internet banking without visiting branch

do not understand, why SBI keeps offering multiple credit cards to same customers….

I thought that – telecallers are just getting forms filled for the sake of their incentives. But when applied, really I got another SBI card. limit around 3 times of previous one.

Now, again few months back I started getting calls. And I had to say that I already have 2 SBI Cards. See the heights here, they were ready to offer me 3rd card..

I personally didn’t find much difference in low end cards. I had tata titanium card and simply save, of which simply save was promoted for offline groceries but found out tata card is much better for those transactions even though not promoted as such. Later when i couldn’t cross the waiver threshold i realsed why would i need 2 such cards. On the other end sbi would have earned 500+gst on both from me. This could be one if the reasons beside the number of active cards that they must be reporting since they’re listed.

Keeping all aside, I love HDFC
Once upon a time, they offered Payment Holiday many times..
no need to pay till 120 days, that was excellent offer from them…

Only if you can manage to make most of your annual spends on your birthday in the year(all spends done on your birthday get 20x points so effectively 5% unlimited on all your spends done on your birthday).
