I have 7 years old Lenovo laptop and I only do basic work on it. Lately, it has become very slow. I want to add a 250 gb internal SSD and 8 gb RAM to it but have no idea how to select compatible ones.

Product description is as follows :
https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/in/en/products/lap...

Please guide me in choosing the compatible SSD and RAM for it.

P.S. – Since I only do basic MS Word and Excel work, I do not want to buy a new Laptop.

I am in the exact same situation as you and wanted to ask the same question.

How do you ‘add’ an internal SSD? Will there be space for it? You mean replace existing HDD with SSD?

1. HDD (2.5") >> 2.5" SSD (Laptops shipped with HDD)
2. Replace DVD Drive with SSD (via caddy)

If the laptop is new, then SSD via m.2/NVMe slots

If you laptop had DVD drive replace it with SSD if not the only option is to remove your mechanical HDD & place the SSD at that space. You can use external hdd for storage large data. Just buy a cashing that convert your hardisk to usb external hard drive.

If you are using only MS Word and Excel work , I would say just increase RAM
