Negative sides of shopping sales
- Game ofĀ Cards, Cards n Cards. If you've got the card then you got the bird (deal). If you have the card n you decide not to buy anything then you might be approached by your friends. If you refuse to share your card then you will become a bad friend. Promotion to becoming a fiend from being a friend won't take more than 10 seconds. šššĀ Ā
- Unexpected risks. So, you have the card n you decide to buy the bird (deal). Then you need to fulfill the min shopping quota to be able to avail yourself a deal. Some sales need you to purchase for min 5k/3k etc. Say you've bought stuff worth the threshold amount, say 5k. Say, you need to replace one item and you get the option to take the refund after returning the same then you will lose all the discounts. If you could not make your shopping cart reachĀ the threshold amount and then you might need to ask your friends to buy something from your account. And if then change their minds then not only you lose your deal but also that friendship.Ā
- Inflated Price. It's exactly like a problem from the RS Aggarwal ji's quantitative aptitude book's profit n loss section. Sellers would raise the markup price by 30% and give a discount of 10% and still manage to get some profit. Making profit is the part of business, but making unfair hikes in MRP n giving some discounts to sell the product is kinda immoral.Ā Ā
- Unnecessary Purchases and further risks. This is a continuum of point 2. Some of us take a note of stuffs we need through out the year n pile em up in a wishlist. And if during sales a good deal is seen then we buy em. It is just we pile up things just because we deem them to be super useful. Maybe we ll hardly use them in a year. Example a precision screwdriver set. And since we delay the purchases inorder to fulfill that min purchase quota we end up neglecting to buy things those we need the most. Example: Say, I am a student n I need a laptop for my classes. I will postpone my purchases for sales day fun and in the mean time my classes will be giving me migraine.Ā
- Late Delivery and product mishaps. Delivery will be done in ad hoc basis, just like in war like situation. And in the hurry some mishaps might happen. My Poco handset has some ghost touch issue. The return personnel gave it a green pass just like that. They become overburdened and they make mistakes. And returning makes us lose the benefits. Sad life.
- Mental stress and anger issues. This point hardly needs any explanation. If you have given card details to a friend for making a high value purchase and you don't receive the money right away then you might relate to this.
Solution
- Take it easy.
- It is not the end of the world.
- Good deals are available through out the year and desidime will help yaa.
- Draw a boundary. If you don't want to share the card details then don't ask for em. It is that simple.Ā
- Respect people's consent and privacy.
- Say you are a student and in case you are in need of an expensive thing. Say, the thingĀ you are able to purchase now is the most your money can buy and you might get it at a lower price after 6 months. It's okay to buy that urgent item right now. Fancy can wait. Once you start earning you can buy them. Remember Nokia 6600? It was a premium phone once but where is it now?Ā

Yahi sab to hota aaraha hai jab se DD se nata jud gaya... ek dashak hone ko aaya...
Recently I bought skechers shoe on myntra due to Onecard offer. It was not required as such. Since then
I have made a habit to buy stuff when required, not because of deal
and if any deal comes along for GV, will buy only if its getting used in grocery purchase
Otherwise, we end up buying unnecessary stuff with GV. Even amazon GV
Another aspect I noticed that if you are busy in work and other responsibilties Deal hunting ka time nahi milega utna. Lot of my friends are like this.
Bilkul shi. Abhi kal 3 din pehle ki hi baat hai. Offline store par main mummy ke saath gya hua tha. Cauliflower dikha toh lena chahte the. Rate tha 160 per Kg. Maine kaha badha mehengai hai. Us time online jio mart lar 140 per Kg dikha rha tha. Lekin tab liya nhi. Aur fir time hi nhi mila and jio mart par out of stock ho gya.
Fir kal hi order krna padha kyunki ghar main kuch khaane ko nhi tha. I ordered from Zepto kyunki 25% ka code tha. But Cauliflower ka 1 piece ka price hi 109 tha. Discount ke baad 82 aya toh socha theek hi hai agar 500 gm hoga. But itni chhoti si gobi ayi. 300 gm hi hogi. Toh maine 240 Rs kg de diye. Paise bachane ke chakkar main nuksaan ho gya.
Good observations...
I am done running after deals, sales etc.Ā
I like this post makes sense vu
Very well presented @bikidas2060 bhai
Your exp. speaks
Sales haven't started yet bhai.Ā
For me, only actual sales are the near Diwali ones.Ā
Prime day used to be good in a distant memory.Ā
Card discounts shall essentially only be an add-on and not the actual deal themselves.Ā
I am missing real sales actually, we are in a complete drought.Ā
@bikidas2060 bro nice post , add 1 more most essential aspect ie Time , we waste hrs & hrs of our precious time in finding/grabbing a birdĀ š
simple. gather more self control. practice minimalism! i have been at it since the last 2 years and i do not purchase anything for myself and my family even if its a very costly brand at a 90% discount and im a bit of a brand hag.
my house is not a dustbin and i have exactly only one laptop one mobile one pair of earphones one pair of umbrella.Ā
i know people who i interact with daily whom i have come across this same forum who buy headphones keyboards mouses and bullshit and what not just because it is on a discount.Ā
if you do not have self control, then your worth in this planet is nada. zero. zilch š¤
ps: to be honest, unlike 2-3 years back when i used to myself buy everything i still do end up making 2-3 unnecessary purchases in a year be it a tws or a pair of sneakers but the idea is to reduce unnecessary expenses and save up for more concrete things like a trip to iceland for a month š„³š«¶š»
Aap toh lalit rao lokhande ji se bhi aage nikal gaye..! Woh do pe maante the, aur aap ek-ek se hi santust hai.!Ā
@rickybahl you'd be an ideal match as a friend of mine.
haha š¤š» sure broĀ š
There are businesses where one can sit or enjoy but still earn continously. Because other ppl work for them.. We r that other people, buy product even if we don't 'need' it, waste lot of time looking for the cheapest price (time spent may be more costly than the price difference), then apply for cards, take that tension, manage multiple bills /card payments, additional tension. This will add load to health but the time spent going no physical activity is a additional burden on health. Sad but true.Ā
Best hai har bank ke LTF cards le kr rkho. Koi instant discount aye toh card hoga.
But HDFC ke hi offers aate hain and unko koi LTF card nhi hai š
Such a nice post. Few pointers which I follow:
- Add items to wish list and wait for card offers. Mostly for costly items (2k+) or items which can wait.
- add to price trackers for costly items. If somehow they come in very low price historically, I donāt botherĀ about deals.
- To make the minimum cart, I mostly add necessary things (surf, coffee, mayonnaise or whatever is needed and are at good price)
- When friends ask for card, I simply say most of the limit is used, they can happily pay and use. If refund comes I will pay them or on large amount they will have to utilise the credit. Few times this has happened and I have given amazon/ FkĀ gift cards to them. (For closeĀ friends I donāt do this as I can easily ask for money from them.)
- Never agree for EMI , āI might cancel the cardā
- Few times when IĀ know a friend is risky to deal with āIām using the card for the offerā
Yes it makes sense your post OP. Appreciate your time in posting this.
VU and KG for your enlightening many who are running, running, running behind so called dealsĀ w/o any purpose.
I wanted to buy refrigerator. Was quoting around 24k. Kept thinking to buy in big billion day. But need became urgent to 1st took Amazon pay card unnecessarily then bought so many vouchers and also bought Amazon prime and in the end spent time and money to save some 1000 ruppes. Too much effort to save a little. Perfect post by op considering my situation.
Actually, for big appliances n expensive electronics local stores are good options. Local dealers get the latest products n can offer good discounts via pinelabs etc. š
@bikidas2060 Need to clarify a point. Do pinelabs terminals bill as online or offline transaction? Does it have such an option? What I've read so far apparently it can be easily worked with if the offline seller is brought into confidence somehow.
Offline transaction as per my information. But I am not 100% sure. š Tagging
- Good deals are available throughout the year and Desidime will help yaa. Truth spoken
Discount discount hota hai chahe 1ā¹ ka ho ya 0.0000001 ka šš
