Good evening. I had bought Sony 43" KDL-43W950C 3D Android Full HD TV on 26-Feb-2016 from Infibeam (Online Retailer). I had also purchased extended 2 years warranty by paying Rs.5000 extra.It is very sad to say that only for first one year the TV worked perfectly without any issues. From 2nd year, the issue started coming. When I called customer care, they have raised the complaint and the service center person visited and told us that TV display panel has gone and replaced it without any cost and again in 3rd year I had faced the same problem and raised the complaint and replaced display panel without any cost because I had extra warranty.
It is unfortunate to say that now again I am facing the same issue. As usual, I raised a complaint and service center person visited and told us display panel has gone and quoted that it would cost around Rs.18000 which I feel too costly and it is almost equivalent in purchasing a new TV.
How can a high end TV fail in 3 years? Poor quality and lack of customer care from SONY. Sony is selling defective products in india and making money by cheating the Indian customers.

This is worst thing for a TV which usually should work for atleast 10 years without problem. We trust the brand and buy but see the result. Please be careful before buying Sony TV. Now SONY is not like what it was earlier. They have become cheaters and making money in spares. Sony quality has become worst. Don’t buy Sony TV and they are useless. Sony being a most branded company is loosing the trust of people.

Buy vu tv. They are good and cost effective. You can purchase almost 2 tvs at cost of one branded one.
Yes even i am thinking same. Better to invest hard earned money somewhere else where we get good returns instead of spending huge money on electronic items.
You should not put so much money over so called brands if you are getting the same thing at half price from other companies. If you are willing to pay hefty repair charges, then you can have those like Sony/LG or Samsung

I am not paying 18000 to sony to replace the panel. I am thinking to give it for repair in some local TV repair shop.

It is believed/rumoured that Sony products come with a kill switch or timer which generally triggers after the warranty period. The rumour or belief is from the origin country Japan and then worldwide. Infact I’d heard the same from one of my Japanese colleague that most Sony products come with a timer. Overall Sony has lost its charm. But it was indeed second to none.
On a similar note, we had Sony Bravia E series TV which did quite good for nearly 8 years(2011-2019). We had to retire it to due to issues with display signals.
I do believe this theory, I had two sony Bravia LCD, both got spoilt for 6-7 yrs….. Same display issue in both and few days apart….. So there is some trigger
Sony bravia tvs are worst. My 43’ tv got a white line in between the screen dividing it in two parts. And that too immediately after 1 year warranty. Avoid sony bravia.

Using VU 32 inch tv from last 2½ years with Flipkart 2 years extend warranty. Super value for money.
how is sound quality of VU Tvs

Best is buy miTV with extended warranty… It will cost around 12k for 3 years… Even after 3 years if it gets damaged, throw and buy a new TV….
My experience with Sony was also bad.. Tv worked for just 1.5 years and panel got damaged… The cost of replacements was around 10k…bought a new TV instead
If my TV didn’t get repaired in local shop, i’ll go with mi TV and i’ll never buy Sony TV.

I have been using Sony Bravia from last 5 yrs and there is no issue came up while using in these years.
It is very much possible that your unit was faulty from beginning. You should have asked from exchange when it went wrong first time itself.
Which model are you using? Even i had Sony EX-420 which i used for more than 8 years.
If it was faulty, i would have faced this issue within 1 year of usage but i started facing issue only after using it for more than 1 year.
Sony will never replace the whole TV. It is not like Apple.

Which model are you using? Even i had Sony EX-420 which i used for more than 8 years without any issues. Later display gone. Sony asked Rs.8000 for replacement. I didn’t get it repaired, instead i bought a new KEVIN 32 inch TV at the same cost.
My brother also faced the same situation with Sony Bravia led TV. Just after 2 days of warranty expiration, his TV developed panel issues. Technician checked ans asked for 17k for repair. Bought a panasonic led and using it since 4 years without a single issue : touchwood

I have been using 2 Sony TV’s (49 Inches) from 2012 and 2013. Nothing has happened to them so far. Having seen picture quality of Samsung TV, I am planning to buy Sony again.
It seems that your TV has some big fault which is affecting the display panel. Also, Do you use Stabilizer with your TV?
Old Sony TV’s are good. But the TV which I bought was latest model. I am using V Guard stabilizer..!!
Update: One of my friend who was using Sony Bravia 50 inch 4K TV worth 1.5 lakhs has also faced same problem. TV display has gone exactly after 1 year warranty period. Now Sony is asking 50000 rs. for repairing.
i habe sony bravia 52 inch..6 7 yrs old…no issue….may be d technician was dumb n cld not find d actual issue or root cause .n yea no stabilizer..n its not a android enabled.. although wifi can be connected
As i said earlier in this thread, old Sony TV’s are really good. The TV’s which are manufactured from last 3-4 years back are really bad.
I too faced same issue, bought 32Rklv422b by 2016 now getting display issue while checked with customer service, they have replied now they have stopped manufacturing display panel, instead they have offered exchange. I planned for MI / Realme TV.
Lucky you. They offered you exchange.
I am using Bravia since 2011, never faced any issues.
They might have not diagnosed it correctly!
Purchased sony bravia kdl 900b 42 inches in 2014 dec. It’s still working. No issues til now

My OnePlus TV within one year itself gone it’s panel (physical damage though) and they are quoting for 40000 RS.
TVs doesn’t have screen guards. I a middle class people can’t afford premium TVs.

The display processing engine is one of the best in Bravia range. But the panel quickly has been thrashed down to the ground. Although its the end of led panel. Wait for the oled era. Coming soon.!!
UPDATE: My Sony TV got repaired by a local TV repair shop. I paid only Rs.5000. As per him, there was no issue with the display panel but had some issue with the board which he rectified. Sony was ready to replace the whole display panel unit for Rs.18000. How can we trust them?? 😐😐
I have Sony 40inch KLV-40W526D brought in 2016 for 50K. Now suddenly screen is not coming. Service center guys saying need to replace panel that cost 16K. Need to check with local repair shops
me also had the same issue with sony bravia bought from indiatimes(for 36K) i think sometime in 2013..it got spoilt after 2 years(a white line across the display panel)..and the technician demanded 25k for replacement..

using VU tv from flipkart fo the past 3 years.. no issues
luckily last december 2019 there was a lightning and the hdmi port of the tv is gone…
raised an issue with VU the technician came and replaced the entire pcb free of cost..
now out of warranty…
will never ever take a sony product even if they give free..
not worth for the premium paid..

PS- i gone to showroom and compared every tv brand side by side , the way accuretly sony bravia display colors (shades of red /orange/pink) no other brand match
I also faced same problem , after 3.5 year automatic TV picture lost . Sony Customers sevice person came , with very simple way told we have used wet cloth for cleanig may a year before and left by taking visiting charges.
I never seen sony is supply such a wost product in india and fooling us . I am not getting any support from sony.
My Sony TV display panel is gone again. Sony service guy told the panel need to be replaced and the cost is around Rs.15000. I got it repaired with local repair shop at Rs.4000. This is the 4th-5th time I am getting the issue since 2017.
