Like everything 1st Jan is already over. And it was a Sunday. What a bummer! I was pissed off, I still am. I mean it would have been a better if the 1st Jan was on Monday. New Years can be really really inconsiderate like this. Now I have to face the Monday blues. But only consolation for me is that I am not alone. 🐒 So, it might sound a Lil bit moronic to find that I am writing this piece at 4:40 AM, Jan 2nd 2023. What to do? I have a sore bum ( I have a medical condition. ) And doc has advised me to take Sitz-Bath. So, I am writing typing stuff to kill the boredom. I could have watched a video or something. It's weird. Meh.

So, hey I googled about Sitz Bath 3-4 months ago. Apparently it became popular during water treatment fad( hydropathy). It's funny to see a treatment plan from a so called branch of pseudoscience has found a place in modern medicine. If you have any anorectal disease, they advise you to take sitz bath. I read about that thing in Sherlock Holmes novels and Atmakatha by Gandhiji. Now, I recollect the health questionnaire from news daily, those used to be very popular. These days, people have Lil to no time to read stuff. Newspapers were things back in 90s, early 20s. Docs used to take questions from patients n post ek in that section of newspaper. Actually it was a clever form to advertise things. The questions can be very random and disturbing in nature. But most of those questions were related to vitiligo, baldness, acne, mostly sexual dysfunction, diabetes etc etc. Then the doc's address would have been posted in the bottom part. Yes, for further treatment one had to write in details to them. The patient had to do money order/demand draft n the doc would review n courier the meds to the patients. I really don't know how much effective was that thing but damn it took sooo many days. See, how easy this UPI thing actually is in comparison to classic Money orders n demand drafts. They they used to post this stupid confessions stuff. Those were mostly about bad breakups and betrayals. I used to think how can one be sooo cruel? Some stories were downright absurd. I can remember fragments of a story. The story was an affair between a poor tuition teacher and his student. The parents intervened and made them breakup with each other. The girl studied well n did well in life. The tuition teacher is still basking in warm thoughts of her afterglow. At that time I felt really bad for the teacher. Now I am thankful to her parents for their timely intervention. I am 100% sure that it was a fake story. Actually that confession trend continued in lifestyle magazines like "Women's Era" and made a bigger comeback in facebook posts. There were communities in facebook that allowed one to write confessions about one's crush etc. Guess what, what goes around comes around. Quite literally. No! 🤦

Hey, are there any good kids' science magazines? There used to be many. Thanks to the iPads, Tablets n ByJu's children don't have any time to read. It's a big challenge to understand something. It's even a bigger challenge to make someone/group of people to understand what you have learnt. If there are any good books still being printed then lemme know. 🙂

It's 6:36 AM now. I had to run some errands. I left this thing without publishing. Honestly till now this article was in "felt cute n might delete later" phase. That's weird. Yeah, basically misery has been the fashion symbol of our lives since atavistic days. You check Ramayan, Mahabharata epics, you check modern literatures. They have one thing in common i.e. Misery. Apparently people love to document their tragic incidents of life. You check the literature section of a Sunday tabloids of regional languages. They are mostly filled with tragic stories. During my childhood I used to read about how some good boy became a violent criminal because he was unemployed. I read some beautiful beautiful yet tragic love stories too. I read about story about an old tea seller and his eroded sugar spoon. It could barely lift sugar. Yet the tea seller managed to give the exact justice to the sugar department of the piping hot tea n nobody complained. Somebody asked him, why did not he get a new spoon. Upon replying to this question the old man told us a story. I mean I read a story inside another story. Old man's wife was a beautiful person. The couple was madly in love and they opened this tea stall. The old man's wife fell ill. The old man had bought this spoon to feed her some prescribed tonic. The lady made a full recovery. The spoon was introduced to the tea business. The lady fell ill again. The spoon was the last thing she touched with her lips. And the old man could not speak anymore n I couldn't read any further. I drifted to 10 years back when I read a similar story about a flower. It was a translated short story and was featured in our text book. The protagonist was a child and he visited a gardener with his father. The gardener was very protective about his flowers. There was this one particular flower the gardener was immensely attached to and the flower was named "Amina". He used to be a badass soldier fighting in the middle East. He met this beautiful girl. On his last day of tour of duty he was gifted this flower by her. He has no courage to ask her to come with him. He came back to find her but she had left that premises with her family. 😔 Basically he had found peace with that flower. He had named it Amina. Most probably the tea spoon writer derived the idea from this decades old story. But they both moved me nonetheless. And maybe that's how Ernest Hemingway was discovered in pulp magazines n became popular.

It's 7:48 AM right now n I had to do some errands n obviously left without posting this thing n I ll try to finish this right now. So, where were we? Yes, misery was there back in the days n it's still present this day. Back in the day, we had to wait for things. If there was a tv series going on, we used to wait till next week for the follow up. These days things are available in bulk. A series is released in 16/20 parts at a time. And we don't need to wait for em anymore. We can directly express our opinions to our fav creators without any delay. Payments get instantly settled. Quantity has increased n quality has decreased. And there has been no visible discount in premium things though. Premium things are becoming more premium, you know. So, in my observation mediocrity has increased. That's a concern. People think that it's okay to be negative 24x7. And there is no need to search for things which need to validate us, actually the reverse is happening. Things are finding us. I need to stop writing as it's 9:05 AM already.

After reading through this thread thoroughly, I wouldn't be surprised
if you're the same person who keeps writing huge, long, irreverent comments
using multiple fake IDs (since you're also good at tech stuff too) which
could help you bypass Desidime security.

Sad thing is that people these days are associating lengthy articles with WhatsApp University. These days, people don't read anymore.

Really loved reading this musing. It reminded me of an incident related to this topic from back then. We were sitting in the hostel room of one of our classmate. It was March 1998 if i remember correctly. He was reading times of india's help section I think. And suddenly he got enraged. He read a question from a lady whose teenaged son was a handicap or autistic or whatever problem he had, and she had to bathe him daily. Something came upon her one day and she gave him a handjob. And then that delighted boy wanted it to be done everyday. Now she was in a fix how to deal with it. That was her question. And my classmate who was a hardcore Muslim and quite sincere in etiquette, ran outside his room to the corridor and shouted all the abuses he knew for that woman. Banged on everyone's room door, and came back started writing a letter to editor as to how can TOI suggest anything sane to that vile woman. I was so horrified seeing what got into him. That was one of purest form of anger I witnessed that day. Yes, agree people used to read as well as write their darkest secrets in open, seeking for help. People reacted too.

Happy New Year Biki Bhai 😀

Took 2.5 minutes to read the whole post which is nothing in my opinion compared to what you had spent in writing this post. Good one though.
