Not Using your credit card reduces credit score ?

Hi Guys,

I have 9 credit cards..  I don't used 3-4 of them ..  does it will affect my cibil score... ? please guide how cibil score is calculated..

The idea there is, if you do not have any due amount, then its not reported to cibil or experian, and then it doesn't count as one of the timely payment because you paid nothing. It doesn't  reduce your score, but having 100 rs due and then paid increases it

close some of them if they are not more then 1 - 2 years old 

keep the oldest one dont ever close them

i was going to close sbi simplysave...  it was my 1st cc ...  now i am feeling to close since i got simplyclick

Why shouldn't the oldest one be closed?? Mind explaining this please.

Old credit card are given some points in the cibil score so avoid closing them

well if its the oldest credit card you got better keep it 
if you cibil is above 800 then you can close it

and dont get card you dont need

you can close all 3 of them if thats what you want do 1 by 1 and when you do act like you dont give a f because bank will call you just tell them if you are giving me a upgrade ill stay of else close it

No reason. That is a misunderstanding. Total length of credit history, meaning your oldest account, impacts the score. Longer the history, higher the score upto a point. What people don't understand is that even if you close a card, it still reflects on your report for 7 years. So let's say you have 2 cards. One is 1 year old and the other is 5 years old. Now your credit history is 5 years old. Even if you close the older card, the length of credit history will remain as 5 years. It won't change to 1 year. The only negative would be that your total available credit limit would decrease and this your utilisation will increase.
