I am looking to buy a new graphic card to replace my earlier amd 7850.since buying a new smps will cost more than 5k lookng at options that can work in current setup normal 1650 doesnt require smps.In Amazon only the 1650 overclock versions are available .its on sale today. In card review it’s written that overclocked card requires smps and wont run on only power from motherboard.is it true?
will then running with my smps will be risky ?

also my motherboard shows pci 2.0 compaitable while card shows 3.0.

does it matter?

hoping someone can clarify these too?

here is the link to the card

System power consumption under load with the once mighty 1080 Ti peaks at ~400W. So shouldn’t be an issue at all for the petite 1650. Your 7850 wasn’t bus powered was it? Then why the confusion?

thnx 4 answering .it was 7850 without overclocking.also my motherboard shows pci 2.0 compaitable while card shows 3.0.

It shouldn’t be an issue, these slots are backward compatible
You can get a PCI 3.0 Supported Graphics Card and it will work just fine
About pricing, Zotac and Gigabyte belongs to same price league. Check offline for exact prices. AFAIK there’s 2+3 warranty for Zotac

Edit: Zotac Single Fan version is 12395

Gigabyte Twin Fan @ 13500

Gigabyte Twin Fan + Windforce cooling system @ 14000

This seems fine, if there’s Zotac Twin Fan version it would’ve costed 14k too

Go for Gigabyte, it has better customer support.
I’ve read on reddit thread, regarding the after sales support. In customer support, MSI is the worst, Zotac is also not good, and Gigabyte is good, as per the people posted there.

Yes, go for Gigabyte, Asus or whatever. Not Zotac. You also created a similar thread few days back right?

Zotac service is not good? Anyone with personal experience?

I will not recommend Zotac any more. After what my friend wen through with this 1060’s after sales support. The company is in my dictionary, very unethical.

I guess you haven’t read about MSI After sales support
No one can beat them, they are the worst
I got to know about this after getting MSI GPU, thankfully no issues until now. Probably will sell off before the warranty expires
Rest all brands are the same but couple of tech forum posts suggest that Gigabyte After-sales support is great even though the price is higher compared to other brands + international warranty

Thanks for mentioning that. It’s extremely worrying to know though. My friend set up a Ryzen 1600 based system just last month, and few days back the motherboard was damaged due to some power problem caused by a cheap USB hub. He sent the mobo for servicing and they asked for one week to get back to him.

So I’ll be sticking with Gigabyte or Asus then. Who cares about a little bit of price for peace of mind. You have any idea about EVGA?
