Hi

Need a suggestion

My father's Oneplus 7T has gone dead.

He has been using Oneplus phones since 5-6 yrs so he is preferring that only.

Please suggest what should I buy for him

OnePlus 11R at 40K or Samsung S22 at 50K or any other Android in 40-50K range?

Main usage - banking apps, social media, taking pics while on travel (so decent battery is also imp), routine basic use

No use at all - Gaming, customisation.

Even i personally use Motorola
Because its stock
No bloatware but still at the end of the day its a Chinese phone

People consider chinese phones because they are cheap ( less pricey with better hardware )
And they compensate that price by stealing your information and sharing with some 3rd party vendors for ad revenue

So if privacy is your concern
U have only 3 options
iPhone
Samsung
Pixel

If you can pay that premium
I will always recommend you to go for these 3

I could have suggested you pixel but
With 5G pixel phones specially with May security patch facing overheating issue

My close friend using Pixel 7
Its a camera beast but it heated up a lot
So not suggesting that.

So if you can wait
During BBD sale go with Samsung S23 series of phones

If your usage is limited
Grab Iphone 14 during deals
Limited use i said because ios will never allow you that freedom Android having

One more Suggestion

You can wait for nothing phone 2
Cleanest version of Android they are offering
You can trust this brand too

11R is very good performance wise. Drawbacks include software bugs mainly pertaining to the display refresh rate handling in various apps https://m.gsmarena.com/oneplus_11r_hands_on-rev...

Aesthetically speaking the camera arrangement is just ugly.

Edit: I don't know if the Color OS rebase was delivered to the OP7 gen. as well but the software in Oneplus devices of recent vintage is quite different from the original Oxygen OS.

Take pixel 7a into consideration.  And remove s22, i am personally using it and the battery life os terrible

Watch some detailed youtube reviews of 11R as UI won't be the same as 7T most likely.

Exynos No

Snapdragon Yes

When Snapdragon based on TSMC fabrication process Double yes

Now S22 series in india with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 based on samsung fabrication having heating & battery drain issue

Where as OnePlus 11 with 8 Gen 2 based on TSMC fabrication is good on battery and no such heating issue reported and currenty its the best phone at 55

If Samsung is your priority you can wait till bbd go with S23 series with 8Gen 2

If u cant wait Go with OnePlus 11 if you are okay to pay 55K

Not considering 11R

Because as you said 50K so paying 5 k more and having 11 makes more sense

I know people using OnePlus 11 and its the best flagship phone at that price right now

Sorry

Initial reviews of 7A is not good specially due to overheating ( thanks to samsung exynos based tensor soc )

So its not recommended until they solve those issues ( it will still be a heater as u cant change the soc )

I would go for OnePlus 7T for lite UI & comparatively 10K less for almost similar hardware specs. What happened to oneplus 7T you may ping me if you need to fix oneplus 7t. Might dead due to dry soldered balls of RAM & CPU

Buying 11R

7T just became dead suddenly while using. Don't know what happened exactly!
My brother took it to a repair guy in Karol Bagh, Delhi.....they tried working on it for 3-4 hrs but the phone was not booting up only.
It's a tried tested repair shop and he has got many phones repaired from them earlier.

Can we disable/stop/prevent updates in OnePlus 11R's OS and update only when we want at some point in the future?

Finally bought OP 11r.
Seems good so far.

Thanks everyone for your valuable suggestions!

BUT unable to find any good quality back cover for it. Earlier on 7T, my father had UAG case. If someone can suggest any good sturdy case like that for 11r, it will be really helpful.

Spigen has protective cases ranging from Rs 1.3k to 2.8k. Kapaver has one available as well for less than half the cheapest Spigen. I had used the latter in quite a few devices over the years and found it to be very good (longterm durability and device protection despite multiple falls) . For my current device I had to use Spigen and while being good it's  overpriced and not as sturdy as the Kapaver ones.

My bad. It's the Oneplus 11 instead. The Kapaver case for the Oneplus 11R is looks significantly different from the tough armor ones I had used though. Better check for recommendations from actual users.
