Rahane should not be in playing 11. Since last 3 years performance was very bad in sa nz eng & aus. All will play in indian pitches. We can see this kind otp in next 3 matches.
One bad game and everyone forgot how well India performed in tests.
India were really good against England too. The 4-1 doesn’t justify their performance.
They faced the same pace bowling attack vs Australia last time, did extremely well.
This is a really good test team. People talk about sacking players after every bad performance. Then they talk about not backing players.
Have you seen New Zealand vs Australia in 2020? Steve Smith, the best in test, kept getting out in the same fashion the entire series. Does he mean he is brain dead?
I just know one thing, these T20/ODI experts don’t know anything about Test cricket. It’s always a game of patience and will always be. More often then not you are already lost in an away game in SENA. If you win, you have done well. If you were close, you did well and this indian team gave Australia a run for their money in 50% of the match. And mind you, this team is playing test cricket after 9-10 months in away tour. While I accept your 4-pointers, I don’t really accept your first part.
I just cannot help but comment when someone tries to Glorify Dhoni the TEST player. Because I know he is a LOI legend but nothing of that sort in Test Cricket.
In Test cricket, averages are a good indicator since not outs are rare.

Dhoni- 32
Pant-33
Vihari-38
Rahane-45
Kohli-44
I don’t really compare home averages because it’ll be anyway too high for top order batsman.
Now, Dhoni almost never made much with lower order batsman in Test cricket. In limited overs, he did.
But fact is fact. He was at best mediocre in Test cricket.
Also, Vihari and Pant are just starting out there careers and still have slightly better averages. Dhoni had a full blown career.
Please don’t mind but I cannot really tolerate when the likes of Dhoni are called more than the Laxman, Kumble, Gambhir in Test cricket.
All of them miss Mahi the limited overs player/captain but no, not the test player/captain.
I never said Dhoni and Ganguly didn’t have good teams. I said they never had bowlers like Bumrah and Shami. Also Zaheer Khan was not a world beater he has bowling average of 33 in test cricket.

Fitness+backing fast bowlers is what Dhoni/Dada could never do. Because of turning Indian pitches, they both never trusted their fast bowlers. Kohli and management specifically asked not to make rank turners(Ind vs SL 2016 or 17).

I think first test was draw vs. England and we won next four matches. Virat Kohli was in great form in that series.
