Over Limit Charges Axis Credit Card

I have Axis Freecharge credit card.
I did make a transaction above and beyond my credit limit and now they have charged me 500 rupees as over limit charges.
I had axis ace earlier, and unfortunately this is never happened to me before and transaction was being denied earlier if limit was exceeded.

Can anyone provide some information on this ? What does RBI say for this?
Does other banks also have these charges ?

Just yesterday, they have added a section in Axis card wherein they are asking for consent for over-limit and also the percentage of limit also can be decided by us- have option of 10-100% over-limit

Obviously, they will charge for over-limit

First time over limit charges will be reversed on request. Do mail customer care or nodal officer or call customer care. If they deny try with other agents. Also from now on check limit before transacting. And revoke the over limit consent in mobile or net banking.

Removing over limit Consent will remove these future instances? From what i understand, its more from bank can not increase limit without customer consent.

You’re talking about limit enhancement I think. That’s a different thing. This is about transacting for an amount that is more than the current limit. It attracts a fee and it is called over limit fee.

It doesnt have option to select 0 increase ,its says 25% and above only optio

I had the same issue, i selected no a few days ago. Then i transacted 1200 over the limit without knowing, and today i saw the 500+90 charges. Would they reverse it if i contact them as this is my first time? Also why the over limit was used because i gave "no" as consent.

Please keep me updated. Have written to nodal officer to seek waiver. Also i have selected No as well. Lets see. Wordings aren't very clear atleast on axis portal.

@game.ruler @Manitian Even if you select no, it says that over limit transactions will be processed. I think it’s a bug 🤦‍♂️😁

I actually didn't notice this at that time, now when i check the controls it's showing me "no". They really haven't been clear on this whole thing.

That’s what I’m saying. Even if you select ‘no’ the success message shows that over limit transactions will be processed.

Same happened with me about month ago 500 + 90 gst.. When I pay my axis cc bill 15k...the amount was credited in my credit limit So there are two things... Exp: Available credit limit: my limit (16 k) Credit limit: 16k + 15 k =31k So think that my current limit was increased & i use card over 16k limit... & I've changed by axis...

I got busy in some things and was able to call today only.

Initially the representative said that I did not pay the whole bill before 5th, so it's the charge for that, but later when he checked then said that it's an overlimit charge and he would need to connect to senior for the waiver discussion.

When it got connected with senior executive, she checked all the details and said that the charges are correct as overlimit transaction was done (in my case it was only 1100), to which i told her that my consent was no prior to ding the transaction and I was not aware that I am doing a transaction above actual limit (as why I would knowingly use overlimit of 1100 and attract fee of 500+GST), so ideally the transaction should have failed and not been made from the overlimit.

She kept saying that this is an old facility given to users, and the charges are genuine etc., but I kept telling her that my consent was no, so I shouldn't have given/used overlimit, then she asked to check my limits in app and if any overlimit is showing.

I told her that it's showing additional 15k to my actual limit, then she refreshed my card, and that additional 15k was gone. And afterwards she registered my request for fee waiver, which she said is pending their approval and the final decision should come in the next 3-4 days.

I will update as it goes further.

Okay, i haven't received any response from Nodal Officer. Will send a reminder to them, last week was a short week i guess.

First time I did, got a novice CS... And I wasn't sure about the charges at that time. So I didn't pursue... Before i opened thread here

Nothing after the last call. I will call them again tomorrow to check status of the ticket.
