Summary of Issue
Paid Rs. 5,000/- on 28th Jan 2022 [Friday] via HDFC Debit Card from PayTM [for the first time]. Same is not reflecting in my HDFC CC. Tried paying Rs. 10/- [2nd transaction] via paytm wallet to the SAVED CC yesterday same is also not reflecting. However, when I paid again [3rd transaction] Rs 10/ via payTM by carefully entering the credit card no. it was reflecting on same day i.e. on 1st Feb 2022.
First 6 digits & last 4 digits of CC are SAME for all 3 transactions. Is there any chance that I may have entered wrong CC no. when I made the payment of Rs. 5,000/- [Don’t remember now as It was done last week]
All 3 transactions are showing as Successful from PayTM side.
Steps taken by me
1) Raised complaint with HDFC CC with payment reference no. & the Customer executive said for the said reference no. ZERO payment is showing. He provided me a complaint no. which will be resolved in 7 working days.
2) Raised issue with PayTM & they said they will reply by end of 3rd Feb 2022.Also received automated message that it may take upto 2-3 days for amount to reflect in account statement.
3) Tried entering random no. for remaining no’s of CC but each time it’s showing that Please enter valid CC details.
Please suggest what more can be done from my side. All suggestions are welcome.
Thanks
P.S. In future will never use PayTM for CC Payment
Credit card numbers are checked by the luhn algorithm , there can be multiple cards with the same first 6 and last 4 digits as your card.
You can try generating a cc from here:
https://namso-ge...m/
Try entering this in paytm , it should take it as a valid cc number.

There’s an extremely low chance of him for this, coz he entered the first 6 and last 4 digits correctly; now considering other remaining 6 digits, maximum he might have made 1/2 digit typo, in which case the card number as a whole becoming another valid card, is very very low; the last digit of the card acts like a hash as you mentioned and this further reduces the probability; Just a technical analysis…

Even typo of 2 digits is enough to give 5-6 more valid credit card numbers. Yes the possibility is low but looking at op’s case it seems completely possible. Maybe it’s just error on paytm’s behalf which i doubt it is. If not then op just lost his money.
First of all thanks for your comments. @Tanmayyy & @BlueFlash
From yesterday I have tried many permutation & combination for remaining 6 digits each time I am getting same error “Please enter valid card details”. I highly doubt that “I have entered wrong cc details”
Also. please let me know whether I can file chargeback in case payment is not credited to CC. [Will wait for reply’s from both sides.]
P.S. I will keep trying other no’s just to clear my doubt.
If the entered card number is not existing, the paytm is supposed to refund the paid amount back to source on it’s own.

Thanks for your comment.
I had the doubt that I may have entered wrong credit no. BUT now after trying various permutation & combination I am 99% sure that I have entered correct details.
Plus PayTM doesn’t allow to make payment unless correct credit card number is entered.
I will UPDATE all once they reply to my complaint.
can you try to initiate any transaction using that saved card? I generally do it in mobikwik to cross check. if the otp generates to my mobile number means I paid the bill amount to the correct card otherwise not.
I paid around 60k HDFC credit card bill through Paytm, yesterday and day before. Everything credited to account, except the last 10K which i did yesterday night, iam waiting for it to be credited.

Generally I don’t save my card details anywhere except on 2 websites which I use frequently. The SAVED CC card is not showing on payment page as I have not saved it on PayTM.
It’s showing as SAVED CC under PayTM CC payment page only.
P.S. Also, By 0.01% chance if I have paid to wrong CC then PayTM CC option should show 2 different CC as SAVED however only 1 card is showing there.
Suppose if you are thinking first entered cc numbers (which you told payment not reflected for 1st and 2nd txn) are wrong, then you must have two different saved cc details in paytm.
Check this first

good point. check the outstanding of your HDFC because sometimes the credit may not be reflecting in transactions but outstanding may have reduced so.

One point raised by HDFC Customer care executive was that I have done my transaction on Friday & sometimes transactions take 2-3 business days plus due to month end (closing) may be transaction was not updated either by them (HDFC) or PayTM.
Waiting for official reply for my complaint. 🤞

It usually used to be instant. So when there is delay of days it sure raises concern. Some other portals take 3-4 days but that is their normal.

No Change in outstanding amount 😞

Then definitely you will get that amounts in your card.
Last month I paid Rs 20K to my ICICI card, it was added in my card, got sms but outstanding balance not reduced.
Then i talked to cc, they told me to wait for 3 days. After that only that amount was adjusted.
I Hope you will get it soon..

That means u entered correct details so nothing to worry
Paytm sometimes takes unusual time, like 5-6 days also with no sign of any intimation; had same exp with CRED/Mobikwik also and none of these give u any feedback other than generic one like “Banks take 2-3 working days…”
around 2-3 months back paid IDFC card bill and took 4-5 days with no trace of status since it was small amount I finally paid thru Netbanking on last day last hours
Finally paytm payment also credited same day as payment but may be IDFC took too long to reflect(not even limit increased)

Usually I use CRED & Amazon for payment of my CC Bill which reflects in statement by end of the day. But there was offer from Paytm on 1st CC Payment from their platform which I tried & now facing this issue
P.S. Thanks for your +ve comment.
Just want to add a note.
Generally have been paying HDFC cc from PayTM too. It does happen almost instant within a hour at most. SMS of payment credit comes from HDFC (not paytm). Also I always use PayTM wallet for the payment, as there’s no extra charge. Lastly I confirm from the credit limit increase in HDFC netbanking.. which happens the fastest (even before unbilled txn).
Noted…
Before this payment all of my CC payment are credited in the statement instantly OR by end of the day. Since this transaction got stucked/not credited that’s why I thought to create a post on DD for help & suggestions.
If your card was saved and unable to see full card number
Try one thing just add 10rs in your Paytm wallet if the transaction successful that means card number was correct.

Card is not saved on PayTM.
It’s only saved under CC Payment option plus I am seeing only 1 CC as SAVED under PayTM CC options hence possibility of wrong CC is negligible I think.
