Peculiar issue with sim sms, redmi

I was using an old redmi phone as my phone original phone got damaged, till i brought a new redmi phone.
But after taking the sim and put into the new redmi phone, i have been receiving sms messages on my old redmi phone. What is the issue here.
I hope i am clear here

Yes. It seems that was the issue. Was checking through and found it and deleted the number. Thank u very much for the help

You have probably activated Mi Messages (or whatever it is called now) on old phone. Sign out from that.
