I am currently shifting to a flat which has water supply of bore water. Previously, where I stayed had municipal water supply.
I checked TDS of bore water and it came 745. I would have to buy RO for drinking water.

I have the below doubts:
1. Is it good to use this water for brushing, bathing, washing dishes etc.? Any problems with it?

2. Will any problem occur with washing machine if using this water?

3. Which type water purifier will be good for drinking water?

It depends on the TDS levels. Refer to my earlier comment or do a little more reseach on safe levels of TDS for drinking purpose.

I live in a area with similar TDS levels.

1. Is it good to use this water for brushing, bathing, washing dishes etc.? Any problems with it?

No issue as such. All is well.

2. Will any problem occur with washing machine if using this water?

Again not observed any. It may depend on one’s maintenance/usage type/pattern. A technician visited for installing a washing machine stand, and he is surprised looking at my 3 year old machine.

3. Which type water purifier will be good for drinking water?

You need one with RO. I would say not to go with branded ones as they may not let you take control over TDS at the output. There are couple of local branded ones on amazon.flipkart if you do not want to take hassle of going around in your locality for assembled ones. With local ones you will have control over TDS adjustment, and keep ir around 150-250 based on your preferences.

We have Kent RO and I suggest not to go with Kent as too much maintenance charges. Check out MI Water purifier. Very simplistic device.

I don’t have much idea about this but I’ve spoken to the team head of all 3 major brands before purchasing ours (Kent’s Grand Plus or whatever), Eureka Forbes, HUL and Kent, and all of them advised us to go for RO. However, earlier to this a young lad from Aqua Guard came and checked our TDS at 550 (bore water) and suggested that a plain UV is enough. But that didn’t impress me much as I was looking to purchase the best one (back then best meant spending high for me) and decided to go with RO (and UV and UF came additionally with it). Using the same RO machine from 2014 and there has been many problems with the machine’s electrical equipments (wiring, PCB changed several times) but not much problem with actual filters, bit funny.

Therefore, I won’t recommend Kent. All these water purifiers and their filters are the same across all brands by the way, so you should go with the one which offers better quality control, and better after sales to your concerned area. I would say go with Aqua Guard. Even though their business model has been unethical of late, Dr. Auqa Guard is the now flagship brand thus justifying exorbitant pricing. Many unnecessary features are being offered but haven’t heard any electrical equipment going crap reports like we are having with our Kent.

I will not suggest going for locally assembled products, their filter quality is highly doubtful. I am also not sure how branded companies do not offer proper TDS control but local ones do!

Others, please redirect me to a worthy report saying RO is bad for health. Because last time I read RO still was the best filtration procedure. What’s bad (terrible actually) is setting a typically low TDS (below 100) and imagine that’s proportionate to purity of water. Measuring TDS alone isn’t even a major factor in deciding which purifier to get, one should test the water through a laboratory but who has time for that nowadays eh?

It’s been 7+ years we are using ours but every now and then it botheres the hell outta me thinking whether we are drinking right quality water.

tds higher than 900 are not safe to drink, so u can drink and do all other stuffs (brushing, cooking ,etc), it wont harm you. Its a natural mineralized water, if you follow RO companies then they will tell you that beyond 3-400 tds its not safe.
u may need some basic filter to filter out sand as bore water tend to have some sand.
RO = dead demineralized water.
If the water is hard then u may need a softner for washing purpose.
Rest all good, its all in mind, our body is designed to digest even more tds, dont worry.

No issues with carrying out regular stuff. Except bathing may cause hair loss to some. You will never know without going through it yourself.
If used in machines, it will cause scaling, which you have to clean once a while or else cause damage to the machines.
RO purifier with TDS control would be good for drinking water.
Living with municipal soft water is such a bliss, one only realizes when one has to live with bore water.

Hi guys, level of TDS is 250-300 at my house, I am drinking water from RO from 10 years with TDS 100. Do I need RO water ? Is there any other water filtration available for such low TDS ?

Water comes from borewell and get stored in 2000 litre tank, last time cleaned 10 years ago. So suggest me something

I think RO is not needed for you as TDS is 300 only. UV+UF would be enough.
RO would be needed in your case only if there is any chemical or biological pollution with the underground water.
