Will it be of any use now as he has allready driven it 50km?
....bad one....petrol pump guy is an idiot..tank should have been emptied at one....happened with me some 2-3 years back...the guy filled diesel in petrol car....i called my mechanic and he advised me to completely empty the tank and petrol pump guys did it...wasted 2 hours ...lesson learnt...always go to check while at the petrol pump....never sit in the car and wait for it to happen...
Petrol nozzles are thinner than diesel for a reason .. in ideal world your story is all fake ..anyways .back to OP
By mistake is some amount of petrol is added in Diesel.car it's just fine...take it for long run and add more diesel ... Diesel engine can handle such small amount without an issue.. .biggest problem is petrol is dry fuel where as diesel act as lubricant for injectors ..if petrol is added in small quantity it won't cause any damage ..
same thought was on my mind sometime back. "what happens if petrol is filled in a diesel car and vice-versa". now i understood what should one do next.
Shouldn't your friend have called you the moment they realized the mistake, instead of taking the pump guy's advice and driving 50 km on a petrol-mixed diesel car, before narrating the incident to you?
Have no idea what should be done now. Or how much damage it might have caused already.
... and get presented with such instances...
... the thought gets reinforced within me..
..that mere evolution or some geographic events could not have got us (Homo sapiens and earlier humans) to rise up the ladder.
At-least Homo sapiens being at the top of the food chain.. still mystifies me!
Best was to design it out & not starting the engine although adding diesel to dilute the petrol was still fine than running it on petrol completely.
Visit a mechanic possibly reliable/known as there might not be any major effects.
I always get down and confirm if that's petrol and stand there itself unless the nozzle is removed then tap my card and leave the pump..
I hope OP might have already told his friend to empty his tank.
diesal is for loosers😀
For me this happened an year back..but diesel filled in my petrol car..i searched online and learned from mechanic..here is my points.. 1. if petrol filled in deisel car engine might burn/ fail.
2.usually it should be drained, but as it alresdy drove 50km , let us discuss next point.
2.car engine can manage if 5-8% petrol mixed in diesel car.
Now, only way dilute as much as or empty it .
3.as long as running, there is no worry.
4.if speed , sound, pickup is fine, then all good, no service required
ok guys.. two scenarios we have to discuss as written by bikidas in above comment.. any expert opinions or threads from other websites in this regard?
1. petrol in diesel car
2. diesel in petrol car
So, after reading everyone's comments and advice, OP be like - Kal Sunday hai, long drive pe nikal hi jata hoon...
... tou @FreakingAwesome bhaiya ke bhi padh lo.
Unke tou delete karwa dete ho.😶
May be you need to remove oil
Diesel density is higher than petrol density so diesel settle at bottom and once all diesel consumed petrol starts entering inside engine.
And you need to empty tank before this happen
In case if diesel and petrol are miscible you need to dilute as much as possible
Pls unfriend your frnd and nvr allow him near your car !!!
Once you get the money then kick his stupid A**
Bruh use fuel tank stickers to make sure it doesn't happen again.👇🏼
It happened with me many years ago when pump attendants were not aware that Honda started selling diesel cars, it was 3 litre petrol in an empty diesel tank at that time. I did not drive but got it towed to the service center, they empted the tank and ran some engine tests, car ran fine 90k km and no issues till date. As everyone suggested, get the fuel tank empty as soon as possible for piece of mind.
OP ke dost ne OP ke laga diye
people will think giving car to frnds after reading this
JOkes apart, dont panic, reach out your mechanic or service centre and get it drained.
