I have sbi bpcl card and i filled petrol at a bpcl pump today morning and there machine was stuck during the transaction they kept roaming here and there saying it must be a network issue and then asked me to enter again i said what if i have been charged in the first transaction they say no it says cancelled here so you haven’t been charged and i didn’t receive any sms of deduction on my credit card too so i entered again and it failed again and then those idiots brought a new machine and it finally succeeded.

all was well until i reached home and my phone gets 3 sms of the same amount and after some time the same reflects on the sbi card app too.

i couldn’t find the petrol pump number but mailed SBI regarding the same would i get my money back ?

also if not how should i use the chargeback feature in this case ?

edit: applied for chargeback on the 2 transactions. Will they just proceed with it or ask me some questions related to it ?

Don’t worry, It won;t get charged. There is difference between the settled and unsettled transaction. It won’t settle.

you mean to say even when we purchase something there is another process of settle and unsettle at the backend ?

I would suggest visiting petrol pump and contacting the same guy. What’s the transaction amount? If it is small then wait to get status from sbi. Using cards at petrol stations is risky nowadays!

in the sbi card app in the more services menu there is an option of transaction dispute tap on it and select the transaction you want chargeback on.

basically i selected those 2 of mine and they mailed me with the subject chargeback application and said that they will verify and contact me for further documents and if found right will chargeback

I think you should wait for 3-4 days, as you are facing this on sbi card, then lemme telll you, unlike other cards, sbi app has feature where u can see the pending transactions (cc usually takes 2-8 days to process the payments), when the transaction Is failed, it takes the dame amount of time to reflect that.
Also, i want to know how u did charge back ( for my knowledge purpose) , if u can share the steps.

This scenario happened with me in delhi buss, where i choose to pay via metro card. The money deducted thrice but ticket generated at the last transaction..i got to know when i reached metro station and checked last deduction. As metro cards dont send msg on phone. Instead of 50₹ i paid 150₹ fory journey 🥺

Unsettled transactions may take upto 30 days to settle in case of credit card

So just wait and watch and raise objection only after generation of next statement

Almost all fuel companies (ioc, BPCL, hp,etc) do a EOD reconciliation of sales and initiate the refund for refund transactions automatically , however do chase the petrol pump for the issue, they will be able to provide any additional details regarding the refund
