How it works:
- You receive a message from a friend or contact that says something like:
"There are your photos [link]" - Curious, you click the link, thinking it leads to a photo.
- The link takes you to a fake login page or downloads malware, allowing hackers to gain access to your Telegram account.
- Once they have your account, they send the same message to your contacts, spreading the attack further.
How to protect yourself:
- Never click on suspicious links, even if sent by someone you know. Confirm directly with the sender before opening the link.
- Look for red flags in messages, such as urgency, poor grammar, or messages that seem out of character for your contact.
-
Enable Two-Step Verification in Telegram for added security:
- Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Two-Step Verification and create a strong password.
- Do not log in via external links. Always use the official Telegram app or website to log in.
-
If your account is hacked:
- Change your password immediately.
- Log out of all other devices under Settings > Devices.
- Inform your contacts about the hack and ask them not to click any suspicious links from your account.
