I am looking to upgrade my current K20 Pro to a Flagship Phone in the Upcoming Sale.

My requirements are  -

1. Flagship with Snap 888/Gen1, 8/128GB Config.

2. Usage - Normal Usage, Zero Gaming, Multimedia Consumption. Super Fast Phone.

3. Camera - No special requirements as I hardly take photos. A decent Camera would do.

4. Charging - Super fast Charging like 120W, Battery - 4500-5000mah.

5. Connectivity - NFC and 5G

6. Pricing - 25-35k. I recently missed Xiaomi 11T Pro and similar nice deals.

Shortlist - Xiaomi 11T Pro, Iqoo 9/9T.

CPU performance wise SD888 is hardly any better than SD870 due to pretty severe thermal throttling.

Don't do it. Wait for 8+ Gen 1 or Gen 2. The 888/8 Gen 1 suffer from bad battery drain and overheating, thanks to Samsung's bad 4nm chip fab. The plus or next-gen SoC will give you free battery life if you just wait a few months.

Iqoo 9T has 8+ Gen 1. Is it a good choice. Also the problems you mentioned about battery overheating and draining is prevalent only for Gaming and heavy users or even for normal usage ?

Iqoo neo 6. It's allrounder phone with much better camera setup.

8+ Gen1 is projected as a better chip overall compared to 8 Gen 1. Do consider this point in your search as sharpen suggested.

Iqoo has been delivering classic phones off-late, i think u should prefer them over Xiaomi 11t pro

@sharpen @SuperKnight @santosh_blr How is Iqoo 9t compared to the recently launched Motorola Edge Ultra. I'm predicting sale price of Iqoo at 40k and Motorola at 50k if both give bank discount on top of Sale price. Please advice. My requirement is in the post above.

I would prefer MOTO for its no nonsense UI (stock android). But u have to shell 10k extra for the same usage (as mentioned in ur first post), so I guess its upto u to decide.

@somethingnew @sharpen @SuperKnight Xiaomi 12 pro 12/256 i am getting for 36k after Bonus Exchange offer of 13k on Asus Zenfone Lite. The exchange value available for OnePlus 10T is 6.5k which brings down the net price to 37k. I feel that insane Exchange offer provided for 12 Pro and 9k extra discount is to liquidate the stock as there are many complaints of Batter drain and Camera Fog which is what stopping me from buying. Also I really don't need 12/256 but won't get 9k discount for 8/128 and the extra features like Wireless charging are not practical since any way it has 120W fast charging. I also don't understand why 8+ Gen1 is costlier than 8 Gen1 like in case of 12 Pro and OnePlus 10Pro. I'm still inclined to get 12 Pro because of the exchange and discount offer. So, does the phone really have issues or its limited to only few devices and the issue is blown beyond proportion. If I skip this purchase, which are the upcoming Flagship Launches with 8+ Gen1 and Gen 2.

A device with these many major drawbacks (sustained performance, battery life, camera and thermals) shouldn't be considered at all especially if you intend to stick to stock. I haven't checked if custom ROMs are available but in any case they can only help to a certain extent. And not at all in case of hardware issues if any. Xiaomi's implementation of SD 8 G1 was the worst by far of all OEMs. Maybe if it's on a fire sale...

Waiting for SD 8 G2 should be the better option as it would grace the flagships of almost every major and minor OEM unlike SD 8+ G1 albeit that is more important from the POV of aftermarket development.

I agree with the above comment. There is no custom rom available i believe. I have bought this device in this sale and until today it's been one week. I haven't faced camera lens fogging issue though, mainly because it happens only when you shoot long 4k 60fps videos. SD 8 gen 1 gets warm in the light usage also. The battery life is decent and similar to all SD 8 gen 1 phones available. Speakers quality wise is too good, but not as loud as I expected. Front camera is average. But in daily life usage the things impressed me a lot is the stellar display, design, software updates are regular, and all rear cameras are very good. I think if you can wait until a good and optimised 8gen2 is released coz we don't know how it will be or a good deal in 8+ gen 1 phones would be like a good long term deal. BTW i got it at 35k after all discounts and exchange so no complains in vfm wise and this year no phone would be such good vfm in this flagship segment. Hope this helps.

@manjuonthego404 Here's why we're all telling you to skip the SD8G1. It's several steps back compared to prior gen SoCs.

Qualcomm has been a laggard when it comes to AV1 adoption (understandable considering they are heavily invested in  H.265 ) but it will finally be included in SD 8 G2. Going forward AV1 support will be pretty important if a mobile is used a lot for media consumption.
