Hi fellow dimers!
Can someone please help me to choose the right configuration to assemble a PC?
Requirements:
Basic browsing on web, excel sheets, word documents and similar such documents. No heavy processing power needed at all!
I need a very good screen. Need not be too large but should be of really good resolution, easy on the eyes, wide viewing angle etc.
So may be need processor and ram good enough to support such high resolution monitors and to process basic tasks that’s it.
Please suggest which monitor is good, which processor and mother board combo is ideal for my kind of usage (again, I don’t need crazy processing power) and which cabinet and SMPS is decent for this hardware.
Thanks in advance.
PS: I do not have a particular budget in mind but dont want to spend fancy amounts on hardware that I don’t need. If the hardware helps me I will spend on it for sure.

No no, not high budget but if it really fits into my needs I can stretch it a bit.
Nothing too heavy on the processing end, it’s mostly spreadsheets, word documents and browsing for general office work. I think the processor would be stressed the most only to power the monitor if I choose a really good monitor with high resolution.
It definitely needs to fit in for 3 to 5 years for sure, wont be upgrading anytime soon. In fact, the one I am using now is almost 8 to 9 years old and is still surviving (barely). But then again, dont want to spend too much. Hope my requirement isn’t confusing.
core i5 + 8GB RAM + 1TB HDD
these should be enough for your needs I guess
Any suggestion for a cabinet, SMPS and motherboard? A built in GPU with the mother board will do just fine for my usage I guess.
Also, I am quite keen on having a good monitor. As the person using it would be staring at the screen for 8 to 9 hours a day I want the monitor to be easy on his eyes.

A quick list, depending on your needs you can shave 10-20k off it. Also check prices locally & see if they’re cheaper.
oops typo shave
4c/4t is not future proof, given that spectre+meltdown+other patches also reduce performance on Intel by up to 40% or more depending on task. Your I/O is the hardest hit, I’ve personally observed 5-10s more for boot after the latest patches.
Are there any sites/blogs in India that review monitors or even TVs? Proper reviews that test colour gamut, accuracy, display uniformity, brightness and contrast etc.
Digit was the best but I haven’t picked up an issue in eons, there was also chip which shutdown quite a while back. Any publication based group that expanded into India last decade is now exclusively web based or doesn’t cater to the Indian audience anymore.
The sad part is our people love that no name, zero expertise techincal guruji over people who actually know their sh!t
Seeing that guys videos makes my blood boil, while the likes of Digit are now virtually irrelevant
Would you advise getting rid of kaby lake’s with hyperthreading? To be on the safe side. If yes what would be an ideal upgrade for a gamer?

Dell Ultrasharp series is a perennial favorite and seems to be a safe bet. Though a bit pricey. One of the mid-range LG monitors. Asus pro range but quite expensive.

By no budget in mind can we assume that your budget is unlimited
Also a few questions → do you need this for serious work, with deadlines in mind? Plan to upgrade it later on or just set & forget for the next 3-5 years?
Depending on that you’ll get better response.
