Hi guys,

Bought a pair of color tetras (red and yellow) today. I put them in a plastic container along with the water that came with them. I put some dried tulsi sprigs in the container. Please share some tips to keep color tetra fishes healthy…

I bought them with the intention of growing them in a bowl. But this morning... the yellow fish is dead sad Now there is only one red fish but it is not eating even though food is provided. I feel guilty that I have spoiled their life by bringing them home from the aquarium unnecessarily.

Give it to someone who already has an aquarium.

A good news.

The fish seems to have adapted itself to living in a plastic bowl.
I was worried if it could survive without an oxygen pump, but I noticed that when the water ran out of oxygen, it came to the surface of the water and breathed. (the breed name is "color widow tetra")

I am doing about 30% to 40% water change every two days (taking two days of stored water for water change) and feeding Taiyo fish food (pellets).

Lizards are coming to eat the fish. To protect it from them I took a net and arranged it like this. That net came with potatoes purchased on bigbasket. I never imagined it would be useful like this biggrin

It's sometimes difficult for fish to adapt to this environment without oxygen pump. Hope this fish will survive longer. Remember, while changing the water the temperature should remain the same otherwise it can be an issue.

Most of the times fish are dead because of overfeeding & sudden water change. Feed only 1-2 pellets/fish per day. Keep in natural light if possible. Water change - 50% every week would suffice. If the fish behaviour is absurd like floating upside down let it fast for 3 days & add a pinch of sendha namak in Water.
