Noob question… How about a thinkpad with 16gigs ram, i5 10th gen processor and ssd… Would that offer decent gaming experience?

You need a decent graphics card for decent gaming experience stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye
Intel integrated graphics is just fine for less graphically intense games

It’s not possible to get a good gaming laptop in India with that budget (80K).

You can definitely get a good gaming laptop at that price if you are able to get hold of someone that can bring you a laptop from the US.

Else, the best option is to buy a desktop. You will be able to assemble a nice gaming rig with that budget.

Is laptop necessary? Why not build a pc?

I am currently using a thinkpad with 8gb ram…rest all config is same as mentioned….. it starts to stammer when there are more than 40 people in google meet. So i guess gaming is out of question for this one.

But for office work its the best.

I understand that a PC is always better for gaming. This is for a friend who is travelling abroad for a one year contractual job. He likes gaming and he won’t have much work to do there so wants to take a gaming laptop along. And he’s travelling to a poor african nation, not to middle east/US, so will buy from India only.

Brother just bought Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3i Core i5 10th Gen – (8 GB/1 TB HDD/256 GB SSD/Windows 10 Home/4 GB Graphics/NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1650/60 Hz) 15IMH05 Gaming Laptop

With 4gb graphics card it will run most AAA games at good fps and one can have a good gaming experience. Yet to get the delivery.
Even my acer aspire 5 with 2gb graphics run most of the games and I enjoy those, definitely not all at very high setting, but playable smoothly. Just keep the charger connected when playing.
That being said with 80k as budget you can get a decent gaming laptop which can easily run all latest games. Just choose 4gb and above graphics memory and latest generation processor with min. 8gb ram, preferred 16gb and done. Good to go with latest games.

He should buy the same from outside India, money will be saved. Plus that OR VR is like half the price of what it is being sold here. If he’s lucky, he might get a bundle.

Something around 1-1.25, but can go upto 1.5 if there’s a sweet deal on some expensive laptop.
