Hi friends,

I have been using my Samsung S8 since 2019 when I bought from Flipkart for 29,999. I am in absolute love with this phone's display, sleek looks and simple yet powerful camera that I never felt like changing. In fact last year the display got damaged because of a fall and I went ahead and spent 10k+ to get display changed from Samsung authorized store. But the display has started giving me problem since past few days and it is showing as washed out screen. Otherwise no flickering as such for now. Instead of going for another replacement, I would like to now change the phone but with an android phone which is as sleek as my S8 and offers similar or better display and camera. My budget is around 35k. Pls help suggest me a worthy replacement.

TIA.

If your display quality is priority then no brands provide superior super AMOLED display quality other than Samsung. Now every phone mid budget phones come with AMOLED display but if compare picture quality side by side you wil know the actual differences. The only problem with AMOLED display is screen burn & does not last long as the pixels start dying after some years.  Same applies with Oled TV. My uncle bought LG OLED 55 inch TVin 2018, it's panel got dead a month back. Company quoting around 53K for panel replacement. LG saying panel damaged due someone may have hit the panel very hard. I don't know how LG came with conclusion instead LG should focus on using quality parts.

S8 is 5 years old device and a lot of current mid-range phones got Samsung-make Super-Amoled (Samsung-make*) displays which are obviously better than the S8 panel but the only thing you won't be getting is the high-res display (Even on S20/S21FE it is FHD+ just like the rest). So, if you think the high-res display made the panel look better then checkout S20/S20+ (QHD+ displays*) + these phones also got glass back (it is plastic back on S20/21 FE) & very good cameras

Note: JioMart, Croma had S20/+ for ~40k just last month. There might not be any immediate sales but you can wait then the sale price should be similar in Jan (GIF/Republic day sale)

I read somewhere that modern 1080p OLEDs of Samsung make (Diamond PenTile? RGB OLED? ) no longer suffer as much compared to earlier when it comes to the perceived sharpness vs their QHD brethren. What's your experience in this regard? Devices with QHD displays usually are pretty expensive. I have had no experience with QHD displays but the 1080p OLED in my father's RN10 Pro seemed just fine. I didn't have the time to check ebooks however and the increased PPI is supposed to make the most difference in terms of sharpness of the text if I am not wrong.

Vivo v25 pro. Slightly longer display than s8. Obviously not amoled as Samsung but if you love edge curved screen, it will be perfect for you.

It's just inexplicable that heating during the update process can lead to actual motherboard damage especially in case of devices with Exynos SoC. Years old devices on the 28nm process (Redmi Note 3, Redmi 3s to name a few ) that run much hotter have no such issue. Custom ROM testers for instance sometimes flash upto a dozen builds in a day!

S20 FE 5G..you should be able to get it just under 30K

S21 FE 5G does not offer any significant upgrade over S20 FE ..

Wish issue surfaced before or during sale so that you could have gone with S21FE. By the way you won't be getting heart rate sensor and Iris scanner in any of the replacement devices.
