just go to the airtel store and tell them you want to port. they will tell you to send a text from your number to port, and you just need to make an airtel recharge. you dont need to pay anything to anyone for porting, just recharge for airtel. I hope Vi doesnt annoy you much with their "tussi jaa rahe ho? tussi na jao!" calls😛

depends on what you mean by 'on-line'.

in so far as i know, (for porting in customers) no operator provides the facility to directly issue an electronic SIM (software key) for e-sim enabled devices.

Physical sim has either got to be delivered to customer's premises or collected from the store/ agents.

Also, digital (application) process requires capturing a 'live' photo. This make it compulsory for customer to have geographic/ in-person presence.

Almost all operators (except MTNL) are either offering the 28 days pack free or in case of BSNL.. offering the 45 days pack for 49 rupees.. in some circles ... via participating retailers/ agents

Airtel also offers the 56 days pack for 180₹-200₹, in some circles, via the participating agents/ retailers.
VI charges ₹200, I think, for the 56 days pack.
Finding the right retailer or agent ... is the key.

I ported vi to jio, 2 months back.

Jio has a option to do online only where the deliver free sim at your home. But won't give first month recharge of ₹239 for free.

Then I contacted those outside stalls, and they ported it for me with ₹239 recharge free. But charged me ₹50 for it.

Generally, roadside vendors do it for free.

In my area, they offer a 1-month free recharge and free headphones or a tiffin box.

How is VI's internet speed from 12 AM to 6 AM?

I would suggest to get it done online and be cognisant about the documents. Roadside people might use the document to get more than 1 sim to sell it for phone call scams.
