i have 5 to 6 numbers of airtel/voda/idea on which havent recharged since 2 to 3 months I want to port them to bsnl so whats the cheapest option to generate port request.

PS recharge of rs 129 each just for being able to send sms is a costly affair

Use VI20/AIR20 codes on freecharge for 20 cb and recharge with 128. Airtel sometimes gives 3-4 sms on 79 recharge(totally dependent on luck), but for vi 128 is the lowest. No other option.

I think nothing can be done other than rc 129.. use it for 28 days..
Generate upc code on the last week so that porting is easy..
I personally did this for my family airtel numbers in September..
And I did bsnl 397 rc for 300 days Incoming validity and 2 months outgoing free

If you are concerned about SMS then, I just want you to know that BSNL also started SMS Charges! now, you cant do SMS with 100Rs Recharges below to PORT OUT!

BSNL Says- "The O/G SMS facility to chargeable short codes is allowed only with prepaid vouchers whose MRP is equal or more than Rs.147 (the smallest voucher with “unlimited voice facility for 30 days validity” under GSM prepaid service )."

@sujith8786 What do you mean by 2 months outgoing free with 397 recharge on BSNL? What happens after 2 months? Outgoing services suspended? Also, does the 397 recharge give you any main balance?

@shraaj So for OG SMS on BSNL, 147 is mandatory or what? If I have main balance I can’t send any SMS?

FRC 397 gives 60 days of unlimited outgoing and 2gb data per day.. incoming validity is for 300/395 days according to the circle..
There will be no main balance..and will get only incoming calls and messages after 60 days..

No other option other than 128/129 plan.. Better stay with Vi as it’s giving atleast free OG for 7 days once in a month or two without any recharge where no other network is providing. So your number will be saved from disconnection.
Don’t think cheaper plans nowadays, make it useful the recharge which you do. Recharge for any 1month unlimited plan and utilize all its benefits upto 22 days, later proceed for porting process. (This is what my idea 💡)

with vi it is easy. no need to recharge. they give you 2 days special validity or 5/7 days pack free when ur no. is not recharged for 30-45 days. keep checking your number validity at *141# or *199#. When you get it just send port sms. But rememeber to keep Rs.1-2 in main balance so as to send port sms.

Those months rather a year of free jio are haunting us now.
There are big holes in the bsnl network. Mobile shows full signal but dialing it. You are out if network coverage area. The otp sms just don’t come.

Its a bad idea to move to bsnl. Any ways you will be back on jio after modiji gifts it his friend.

I ve ported to JIO from Airtel and from last 1.5 yrs I don’t need to recharge for incoming, it’s free. I am getting calls and SMS on that number.

Need some BSNL expert to help my queries.

Is 397 is the BEST plan in BSNL for both Validity extension or during Port?

I am planning to port my Airtel sim to BSNL as Make in India(Save Me India) initiation. I see 21 Rs recharge provide 30 days of Validity. Is it not the cheapest Validity extension plan as for year it comes around 252 Rs?

Earlier I see BSNL sending additional talktime SMS for time to time. Are they still sending such offers now?

I’m not a BSNL expert..
But porting to a new BSNL prepaid connection requires a recharge of an active plan after port is successful..
The FRC plan ranges from monthly to yearly plans..
So if you are porting to BSNL and will be using the number as primary number.. then any FRC according to your usage is good either monthly or 84 days or yearly..

If you are porting and just wanted to keep the number alive for incoming..then 397 is good..or u can do one monthly rc and try validity extension rc..
Also there is 199/197 plan with 150 days incoming validity (circle specific) u can try that
