Looks like they started implementing this shit rule
Should’ve at least restricted the implementation to e-com shipments / more specifically from china
What is the shipping company? USPS?

$22.5 worth & invoice showing 49.92,is that rupees. If yes then maybe that’s why it was flagged & if it was showing correct invoice value as $22.5 & not marked as gift then may be it might have escaped this rule. @getready any opinion?

Seems 49.92$ includes product price + shipping (Freight – 27.42$)
And if I am not wrong, amazon.com calculates customs based on product price + shipping l

Of course you should not pay, but if you need the item badly, then what other options do you have? Just make sure about the new custom duty tariff put in place by these clowns and pay accordingly, not more. Custom is applicable to all imports regardless of their value now, no exemption below certain limit?

You can challenge the tax receipt and make a prayer to the commissioner provided you can prove your case,

You have a better chance of making a prayer & winning the 1 lakh prize in amazon quiz than this. smile

Last year i imported products around $250, and i told seller to provide only $5 invoice and marked as gift…

And i got my product without any issues.
