If order is less than 5000 then no customs

Be it India Post or DHL or FEDEX or any logistics, you cannot negotiate the customs fee. This is the fee charged by Indian Customs department which is borne by the logistics company temporarily until they extract the same from the customer. If you reject paying that amount the package won’t be handled to you.

Customs duty vary and depends on what you purchase. Most times, at least with mobile phones, even if you get a great deal and purchase it at a much lower price than MRP the customs duty is charged depending on the valuation they have internally. This is because most people declare a lesser value to escape customs duty so these guys standardise prices for each product for their internal use.

I bought so many products, You can’t figure out the custom fee. It is based on the officer who estimate the value of your product, In fact I asked seller to indicate the value of product $10 instead of $150, Seller did the same and after the custom clearance, I was charged Rs.1250. Those consignments was opened by the officials. So you can’t bargain or escape from them with wrong value printed on the packet.

It’s purely based on luck, most consignments sent via post office won’t be checked and in case if it’s a big package your chances are higher that it will be checked… I bought a smart watch worth 7k via aliexpress, normal situation is that I have to declare it’s imei number and pay customs.. but since it was a small package and it was declared just 20$ , it came thru customs with no charge… If u r using any premium couriers like the dhl or FedEx, each and every package will be checked and valued, I had to pay around 5k for a 20k phone when it was sent via dhl….
Btw in ur scenario, u will have to pay the customs fee, either u pay and get the package or it will be held in by customs and they will auction it some other time.. it’s up to you buddy ….

and yes the .Customs charges vary with the officer who is in duty, if u have declared a wrong values, they can even fine you. But I guess most of them will not put any fine on this and just take the normal charge.

You have no option other than payment. Try to visit post office and have a word with post master. If paying get a receipt

But they must have some logic when charging custom duty. I also have a parcel that has not come in yet. last update was it was shipped from Kolkatta to bangalore foreign post office on 18th April. Post that no update till now god knows what is happening.

For saving 900 (300×3), you will now have to pay 2500! Feel sorry for your loss. Don’t buy electronics stuff without due consideration for possible customs fee.

I’ve never had to pay customs on any of the items that I’ve ordered from Aliexpress. I’ve ordered nearly 40 products, and 5 of them have been high value (over 50 USD), and were a camera lens, a xiaoyi action camera, a MiBox android TV, 2 mi bands, etc, but thankfully, never asked to pay any duty.

But there’s really nothing you can do to evade the taxes. You either pay them, or you don’t get the item.

Go meet the Custom officer , do some setting , give some 100 – 100 ke 5 from under the table . Take ur parcel , enjoy

is there any list / site to check out how much custom will be charged on a particular category product .
i mean how these officers calculate customs ?
suppose i order laptop worth 50k , then if i take the DHL case by @anumod i can be charged 15k for customs .
if i take the @subhetha791 case, then i may be charged roughly 5k ..

Customs charges are based on which H code your product comes in. There are many sub divisions for elecrtonic items and the duty varies accordingly. Take time and browse in below website to know more on the calculations.

You can buy literally anything and if the size of parcel is small then you won’t get charged.

govt. is not looting you. you are paying the tax fixed by the govt. which is proportionate to each and every on. If any one trying to cheat govt. they should be hanged
