Problem faced while having Amazon India and US Account with same email

When Amazon first launched in India, I used the same email to access the Indian Amazon site that I used for accessing the US site. I even created the Amazon Pay Wallet in the same account. Now I want to separate out the email for the two accounts. It’s causing a lot of confusion for me now. E.g. I want to set different default addresses for US and India accounts but since they are shared with the same email id, it’s not possible. sad

Has anyone been on the same boat as me? What did you do to get that issue resolved?

Also, is it possible to get the Amazon India account closed permanently but keep the US account?

What is preventing you from stopping to use the account wherever it’s not needed? Create another account for whatever the specifics and move on.

I have both US and India account on same email and I use US account whenever I travel to US. My US account access is very rare, so I don’t have the mess you are dealing with .

Issue happened when I logged in with the account to use my echo device. The device thinks that its located in the US even if it’s in India. I tried changing the county and language to India but that did not helped either ☹️

If you chnage any details/delete account it will Happen to Amazon Us/India account as well.
Best solution is Create new account with different email

I did that (created a new account) finally seeing no other option or alternative. Since a person can have only one Amazon Pay account at a time, I updated the mobile number on the old one to a US-based number. That action disabled the Amazon Pay Balance in the original account. Before updating the number, I deregistered my Amazon Pay UPI Id and deleted the linked bank account. I created a new account with my Indian mobile number and verified it. The Amazon Pay Balance was set up and activated automatically. However, the only issue is that I will not be able to use Amazon Pay UPI in my new account since it will be blocked for 90 days. So I have to wait till that time to get to enjoy the Amazon Pay UPI offers again. sad

Technically Amazon is just 1 account…(options are different based on the URL or country you have selected ). Amazon app has country selection in setting. Because it is just 1 account different address default and payment not possible. In past I have done shopping via Amazon US, Amazon Australia vis same account and no issue faced (one can select the address and payment for each orders so not a big deal here )

And another funny thing is I was not able to install amazon US app on my mobile when I travelled there. I’m least bothered to change the country settings etc in my playstore just to get this.

That’s true and may have worked in the initial years when Amazon was launched in India. Later they had to launch a new app (Amazon India Shopping) specifically to be used with Indian accounts and that is when all the issues must have started. This new app is not available on the US app store

I meant different thing. Amazon India app works while in US, no fuss. But I was not able to install amazon US app on my India region set phone. Anyway different topic altogether, lets not bother.
