Query airtel postpaid to Jio prepaid MNP

I’m all set to port to Jio prepaid from airtel postpaid. Generated UPC, scheduled appointment on 10digi.in
The thing I’m not clear here is if I need to pay upfront the unbilled amount on airtel or can I pay once I’m ported out?
The customer care at airtel says I have both the options, either pay upfront and take refund of the excess amount later or pay the unbilled amount after moving to another network. Once ported out, the payment information can be retrieved through customer care/airtel website is what they claim. It’s too good to believe. Any one with recent experience on this? Please help.

as you are on postpaid, you can calculate approx amount on prorata basis. pay that. for any difference, you can pay later.
Thank you. That pay later part is kind of tricky..not sure how to clear it online once ported out. Anyhow spoke to customer care again and this time it is little clear.

Ported succesfully from airtel postpaid to Jio pre-paid. Cleared the generated bill and generated porting code and the usual mnp process. I’m yet to clear the outstanding amount which I will clear likely after this month statement generation

Yes bro, I also ported from jio postpaid to airtel postpaid then the amount was paid after the portout. But in your case you can visit airtel care
